Bookmarks in Address Bar Mod

@madonnaragu
Hi, all bugs I found about gaps are closed or archived.
This happen for me if I use Vivaldi windowed, but not maximized.
Native window on/off, makes no difference.
Please test this in a clean profile, if you can reproduce it you can make a bug report, I can confirm it in the internal bug tracker.https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/user-profiles/
For information on how to report a bug, see this URL: https://vvld.in/how-to-report-bugs
Once that is done, please share the bug number (beginning with VB-). Thanks.
On the form, you can add your email address. Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation. You can reply to this with any logs or further info.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Thank you! Reported, VB-95749.

@madonnaragu
I have confirmed the report but to be sure:
This happen only if you use Vivaldi windowed, not maximized?
If I maiximize the Vivaldi window the gap disapears. -
@mib2berlin Hi. Thanks for that!
Windowed: The gap is there.
Expanded: The gap is there.
Fully maximised (no menu bar): No gap. -
A small edit of @Spyderr code (Pure CSS Version) I'm using on latest snapshot: FA icon + a link to svg path editor
/*Bookmarkbar in urlbar - https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/588331 */ #browser.bookmark-bar-top > #main > .bookmark-bar { width: var(--bar-width); height: 33px; position: absolute; right: 0; z-index: 10; } :root {--bar-width: 25px;} /*width of bookmarks bar*/ @media (max-width: 800px) {:root {--bar-width: 22px;}} #browser.bookmark-bar-top > #main > .mainbar {padding-right: var(--bar-width);} #browser.bookmark-bar-top > #main > .bookmark-bar .folder-icon+span { margin-left: 0px; } .bookmark-bar.iconexceptfolders button svg path { /* FA icon instead of chevron*/ d: path( "M 2.2508 14.8987 c -0.3474 0.1782 -0.7416 -0.1341 -0.6714 -0.5328 l 0.747 -4.257 L -0.8443 7.0885 c -0.2961 -0.2826 -0.1422 -0.7992 0.2547 -0.855 l 4.4082 -0.6264 L 5.7842 1.7128 c 0.1773 -0.351 0.657 -0.351 0.8343 0 l 1.9656 3.8943 l 4.4082 0.6264 c 0.3969 0.0558 0.5508 0.5724 0.2538 0.855 l -3.1698 3.0204 l 0.747 4.257 c 0.0702 0.3987 -0.324 0.711 -0.6714 0.5328 L 6.2 12.8683 l -3.9501 2.0304 z" ) }

For anyone using the .js version, you have to make the include change in window.html instead of browser.html now as of Vivaldi version 6.2.
Just throw this in before the last </html>
<body> <script src="vivaldi-bookmarks-toolbar.js"></script> </body>

Has there been a more permanent solution to a bookmarks button after all these years? Vivaldi keeps auto updating now and I have to keep readding everything over and over again.
-
@Viryu The bookmark css mod is usually not broken by updates
-
@Hadden89 How to do it though? After every update I have to copy the css file and edit the main file.
-
@Viryu For CSS mods you don't need to anymore.
Just place the css in vivaldi folder and point to it from the settings. -
@Hadden89 Which settings are those exactly?
-
@Viryu Appearance settings.

@Viryu Appearance settings.
There doesn't seem to be anything there which would allow me to pinpoint a file:
-
@Viryu You have to enable it from
vivaldi://experiments
, as outlined in the linked guide. -

I'm attempting to follow this as somebody who isn't very technical: If I want to add this to my browser, which is the most updated version of the mod and the guide on how to do it?
Looking through through the thread there seems to be multiple versions? I'm not clear what the pros and cons of each are.
If it matters, i'm specifically wanting to add bookmark folders to my toolbar/addressbar, rather then having them in a separate boomark bar

@guilc said in Bookmarks in Address Bar Mod:
@jmaeshawn Itβs easy
Just replace
urlbar = document.querySelector("div.mainbar > div.toolbar > div.UrlBar-AddressField");
by
urlbar = document.querySelector("div.mainbar > div.toolbar > div.toolbar-extensions");
It will insert the new bookmark button right before the div that contains all the extensions icons instead of before the address field
Hello!
I would love if possible, to move the bookmarks to the adress bar, but keep them in several parallel folders, in oposition to the current format that is like an "general folder" with all the folders inside, like demonstrated on my amateur mockup!
Given that there is plenty real state available in the adress bar, that modification would be more intuitive and direct for my use. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!! -
