How do you stop the need for giving a fingerprint or typing your system password every time you use a saved password?
-
I clicked SOME option that Vivaldi popped up several days ago, without reading it very carefully. Now EVERY time I want to use a saved password in a login form, I get a MacOS prompt to either type my system password or use the fingerprint sensor.
I do not want this. I want the regular old Chrome behavior of simply using my saved passwords. However, I can't find anything about this in settings, so I'm not sure how this change can be reversed.

@stevedperkins that's an option in the operating system itself on windows its windows hello i don't know what it is on mac try this On your Mac, use the Advanced options in Privacy & Security settings to adjust the security settings of your Mac. To change these settings, choose Apple menu > System settings, click Privacy & Security in the sidebar, then click Advanced on the right.

My guess it's the same as this for Windows Hello and it's a new feature in Chromium 118.

Same thing happened to me (https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/92005/latest-update-messed-up-all-my-passwords). But the solution isn't in the Mac Privacy & Security settings. There's nothing related there under Advanced. I also have all of the options under Touch ID turned off.
So you have to do this:
Type "vivaldi://password-manager/settings" into the URL field, then turn off "Use your screen lock when filling passwords". -
@snowcreative Thank you!

I'm updating some email addresses on my vivaldi password manager on my desktop. Every 2 min or so asks me to check with my fingerprint. This is not security, its pure madness. If Vivaldi does not allow the option to turn off this, at least let me decide when to ask for the fingerprint

@snowcreative Thank you very much. This has been driving me crazy.
