Really killer-option is syns workspaces and sync tab groups. It would be super - useful option to migrate to Vivaldi! Wait it!

Today I noticed that my workspaces synced. Am I the first one to notice this?

+1 looking forward to this feature

I just installed vivaldi on my laptop after realizing that Arc is not available on windows yet. Workspaces are a critical feature for me and I find that they are here, and it works really well. Things are going great, so I install the android app and start syncing. I can't figure out how to sync workspaces so I search for it and find this thread.
I am bouncing off of this browser and back to Chrome because workspaces are not synced. Syncing workspaces is a critical feature. Workspaces are 90% worthless to me without syncing. It makes my life organized on one machine, but since I use 3 different devices to do my work, am I expected to maintain spaces in duplicate in 3 different places? I don't have the time or brainspace to pull that off. All of the extra things people are discussing in here are nice to have's, such as per workspace settings etc. Regular people with lots of hats to wear just need this to work at the top level, and we need it quickly.
In order to make this concrete, here is a real life example. I am wearing multiple hats and I need to put together part of a sales presentation. It will be a new activity for me, so I create a workspace to do some exploration and reading. I am clicking through SERP links, opening tabs, skimming, closing tabs, and eventually have about 10 or so that I need to read through in detail. Oh wait, it's time to take my kids to soccer practice, so I jump up, grab my phone, and leave the house. Now I am loitering in a soccer field for an hour and I pull out my phone. I go into chrome, into recent tabs from their shit sync, and try to find the specific 10 tabs I opened in their list of 8 million recent tabs from my desktop. It takes me at least 5 minutes, but probably more and about an hour's worth of frustration. Eventually I get them all open, read through them, close some, keep some, and head home after soccer practice ends. Now I am back on my desktop trying to compare to the open tabs on my phone to see which ones to close so I can reference them again in the morning when I start building these presentation slides.
I had to manually curate state between a known workspace on multiple devices twice. What you have in Vivaldi today is nice, but it does not solve a problem that can't be solved by literally every other browser and the 8 million tab organizing/workspacing/switching extensions out there. Please, for the love of god, get workspace sync in a basic MVP format into this browser, and quickly. It is 2023 and I can't for the life of me figure out why all sync is basically the same as it has been since 2016 when our usage has evolved enormously.

@RadekPilich said in Sync Workspaces:
This is the minimum meaningful requirement in my opinion to make the sync work for majority of power users.
I completely disagree personally. It's a good extension of the basic sync feature, but this is a classic example of feature bloat. Why delay top level workspace sync, which would work for some people right out of the gate, to add a detail feature that makes it work for more people? If it doesn't work for you without that, just leave it disabled.
-
@Unwatched4539 sure, I agree with you that it makes sense to start with simple sync of everything and only enable it if this is what works for you. The question is, how many people would find that workable. I can imagine it can be somehow workable for some folks on desktop version, unfortunately it would still keep mobile version completely out of the game. Anyways, just a couple of ideas of what could work for "power users" as I said, that's all, it keeps receiving upvotes
-
@RadekPilich fair enough, but wouldn't it still work across mobile and desktop? I don't follow why the absence of an ability to restrict which workspaces are shared would then also restrict the device types that can sync workspaces. Just make them all globally shared or not shared, and then add more granular control after.
There is just a gigantic hole in the browser market around the way people are actually using devices now and it blows my mind nobody is rushing in to fill it. This seems like a great browser. I mostly like it. But this multi-device state issue is an actual gigantic, daily pain in my ass. I am practically a junkie at this point. I need this feature ASAP. The pain is reaaaaaaaaaaaal.

Don't wanna to say more than has already been stated. But also want to put my name on this feature request

Yes, please, urgently request sync of workspaces across all devices for the same user,
Thank you

In one of the latest versions, synchronization of workspaces started working, but in an extremely inconvenient way
When I open Synced Tabs a new window opens which has a restored workspace
The problem is that if there was already a workspace on the current computer, then when the previous window is closed, all tabs in the workspaces are merged (those that were open before synchronization, and those that came as a result of synchronizationI discovered it by strong lags
It turned out that as a result of such a merger, the test workspace (which I forgot about) grew to 2000 tabs -
Microsoft Edge's (also a chromium browser) workspaces sync across machines... So, when will this feature be available in Vivaldi? Hard to believe that Microsoft's browser has suddenly become better than Vivaldi by dint of this fundamentally-useful feature!

Dear Vivaldi you almost have a perfect browser. Not being able to sync workspaces really puts the sugar in the gas tank so to speak. I spent hours setting up workspaces on my laptop under the illusion that when I got back home my more powerful desktop would just have all the work I did synced. However it does not. At the minimum is there a workaround to export and import workspaces particularly pined workspaces? Why would this not be a core feature? Is there some block? Please help us get this going so that we don't have to use other plugins and tools. Also the sessions per workspace should be separate by default. If I have 2 outlook accounts for 2 separate work spaces without the session being stored globally in the browser. Please make the work spaces exactly that work spaces. Also have you thought about adding a feature that when you navigate away from your base URL on a tab that is pinned it automatically switches you to a new "browsing tab" and you could have "starting tabs" or pined tabs. For example you login to Gmail but you go to google admin then sheets then others the Gmail tab should stay static so you can always go back to it. Also adding a focus mode would be fantastic. Thank you

Maybe it's helpful for someone else, my workaround for this is using Toby extension and is useful between browsers and desktops, but not for mobile, the other option is Raindrop but I think the best approach with Workspaces is with Safari, but only with Apple ecosystem.
-
Yep. This is needed.
I treat tab session manager in chrome and firefox as my session manager.
-
I also want to synchronize the workspaces. Just a note for the developers: this feature seems to imply that part of the history also needs to be saved. That's fair, I just didn't want to have to save ALL of the history just because of a few open tabs.

I just recently started using Workspaces and was surprised to find that they don't sync between devices. Here's to hoping that this is added as an option soon!
