Workspaces
-
@dagrlx No way of going back. I am trying to be more careful to catch it immediately when it happens - I think that you can see that the new tab stack takes a name of already existing tab stack. I have also enabled auto-save for sessions and sometimes even save the session myself and / or close and reopen the browser.
-
@RadekPilich I try the same as you comment, auto save session, close and open to prevent the problem but it didn't work for me. So I decided not to use workspace for now.
I have also noticed that this last stable version is a bit buggy, I haven't felt it stable like other times.
As manage a lot of tabs, for now I am alternating with another browser the less frequent things that use.
I will wait for the next release.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

workspaces is a fantastic feature, been waiting for this basically forever. just please please add the ability to reorder them
-
It would be very useful to have the ability to use the same workspace in different instances of Vivaldi.
For example, I have multiple monitors and several instances of Vivaldi open. At some point, I might want to open the same workspace in these different instances of Vivaldi but with different tabs, for instance. -
@mib2berlin Agreed. If the workspaces don't persist when I close and reopen the browser, then there's no point. If I wanted to reorganize my tabs every time I opened the browser, I'd just use tabs.

Guys. This "feature" is the most inconvenient I have got in Vivaldi (Windows 10).
- Why there is a redundant empty workspace?
- Workspaces are never saved.
Total useless. Cause more pain than convenience. I cannot belive it has not been fixed yet.
-
@yesname Do not use it if you are disappointed.
Workspaces are saved if Settings use Startup as Last Session. -
@DoctorG They are not saved despite it being set to restore the last session. It is a well-known issue.

@yesname
Hi, this happen for some user and nobody knows why at moment.
All my Vivaldi installs keep the workspaces after restart Vivaldi.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ukaTAL4Qjy475EDj_V2oLnqmYsTv9COc/view?usp=share_link
Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin At least we could disable this "feature" because its tab takes too much place and I cannot use either. Sad.
-
@yesname Hide the Workspace names and show just an icon.
Position the button on the right, and hide the dropdown triangle too.
/*Workspaces on the Right of the Tab Bar*/ #tabs-container > div.button-toolbar.tabbar-workspace-button {order: 1 !important;} #browser > div.ToolbarButtonPopup-DefaultStyles.button-popup {z-index:99999 !important;} /*Trash Can to the Right of the Workspaces Button .toolbar-tabbar.sync-and-trash-container { order: 2;} /*Hide Dropdown Triangle*/ span.button-toolbar-menu-indicator.disabled{display: none !important;}

One can edit the toolbars and drop the workspace icon in the statusbar, if on the tab bar or address bar it's taking precious space.
The bug is aknowledged and is under investigation

@iAN-CooG OMG. I forgot I can hide it in the context menu. Tnx! You saved me precious space

Hi! I'm new to Vivaldi and to this forum. So please be kind if I do something incorrectly. I know many love the Workspaces feature. I do not, because I think it needs further development. So how can I make the Workspaces tab disappear in a given window, or in all windows? Thank you
-
@VLMin Settings → Tab Bar → Untick "Show Workspaces in Tab Bar"
-
Thank you. That was easy! Have a blessed day!

I had to switch back to Chrome after many years of using Vivaldi. Workspaces are not saved. Ok. I dealt with it but since the workspace feature Vivaldi does not save the last session either and it is very annoying. I tried it on 5 different computers (laptops and desktops). All got the same bugs: workspaces are not saved, last sessions are sporadically not restored. Sad

Workspaces are not saved.
Do you have ticked on „Open at Start“—>„Last Session“ in „Settings“? If not, you should turn it on. Mine are saved with this setting.
