Solved Allow reordering of workspaces
-
Once you've created a list of workspaces, you're stuck with the order you've created them in. (All you can do to reorder them, is delete and re-add.)
Can you please add a way to reorder workspaces?
Possible options:- Drag and drop in the Workspaces list
- “Move up” and “Move down” in the context menu.
(Note that there is already a feature request for sorting the list, but that's different.)

The latest version Vivaldi 6.1 allows reordering Workspaces.

@mscha In which is different? Is not clear comparing titles/descriptions.

@Hadden89
"Sorting" suggest sorting alphabetically, by number of tabs, by age, or something similar. I.e., a dropdown where you can choose the sort order. That's not what I want. I want to be able to put them in any order I want them, so shuffle them around, either using drag&drop or with “move up” / “move down” in the context menu.

@mscha Agree; I think we need both yours AND my ideas. That would be powerful.
-
@mscha Exactly! I was surprised to see this isn't already available, since you can re-order tabs and tab groups.
-
This was one of the first things I've tried to do, quite an oversight to not have it as a feature from day one. Hopefully they'll allow us to do this soon.

@mscha I totally agree that this should be part of the product. Why it isn't is baffling.
I also would like this feature added. Very soon.Dan

+1 YES PLEASE
This is what I was looking for.
And yes, drag and drop reordering. That's what's intuitive, consistent and expected. No need to make it complicated.
-
YES, please!
I didn't even think that it was impossible to change the order, but tried 30 minutes first. -

@ngamradt @pablek @BlokZinciri @vh18 @jshadx You need to upvote the first post in the thread, if you haven't already.
That count, is what the developers look at.
Thanks.

@edwardp Done, thanks for letting me know!

+1, agree'd that this is definitely a needed feature, I imagine though they just got the base feature out and plan on having others. It would be kind of silly to not have manual sorting planned. I also think it's silly that we can't show the workspaces in the sidebar. Seems like no-brainer wins that they could have!

I found a workaround:
- Close Vivaldi
- Make backup of
c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Preferences
and open the file - Prettify JSON in some online tool or with Notepad++ plugin
- Search for "workspaces" and reorder as needed
- Save file and open Vivaldi

Have you tried editing the toolbar, customizing it, and adding the workspaces button? (you can find it on the navigation toolbar options, but it can be added to any customizable toolbar - check how to move the workspaces button in the Workspaces help page for more details)
I have it displayed both on the top of the tab bar (I use tabs on the right) and the left of the address bar. But I tried Ctrl+dragging it from the address bar to the Panel bar and it worked...
