@chuf Please check https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/ first.

@chuf
works for me, probably delete cookies and/or service worker -
@chuf have the same problem but it's not the full app crashing and it is not new to the last update but in my case I'm using snapshots. For me it only happens on some groups. But it is a weird one since it can work in a vivaldi instance and not in another and vice versa.
On my end it looks like it is media related since it appears to happen after someone inserting a video in the group. As mentioned before I first got the problem a few snapshots earlier. At the same time I started to also see twitter crashes, again apparently related to videos, but not so severe. In whatsApp opening the group crashs the tab/sidepanel always. On twitter I can browse almost normally until having a crash in which case I have to reload. In twitter a crash can occur in a related tab affecting also the parent tab.

@Durtro On my side I've never experienced this kind of issue before on Vivaldi. Other websites and and web apps works as usual. When I open web.whatsapp.com it shows everything and shows my chats on the left side, can see whos writing and latest chat, it updates itself and working. But when I click a chat it crashes, not a spesific chat or a group contains images or videos. Just clicking a chat and it crashes like that. Cleared web.whatsapp.com cookies but doesn't work.

Good Day all
After the latest Vivaldi update to 5.4.2753.28 (Stable channel) (64-bit) , I have a similar crash with whatsapp web. All the open chats work except one group chat. I can reproduce the error and I have followed the bug troubleshooting process, still not working.
It works perfectly in Edge Chromium and other tested browsers. I had to install the whatsapp desktop client, as the group chat that is crashing is the most important one.
Very frustrating

@Prince3121 the same. It affects one group for now:
In my case it appears to be related with media entries in such group.
Seeing also similar crashes in twitter but only occasionally and a tab reload solves it until it happens again:
-
@Durtro @Prince3121 Have you checked in a extra profile without extensions?
Sometimes broken interaction with graphics driver can cause this or user-changes of internal flags.
And sometimes missing latest Windows Media Feature Pack causes on Windows ... N/KN such dead birds. -
@DoctorG I tried by opening a guest window and the end result is the same.
-
@Durtro @Prince3121 Do you get a crashdump from time of crash?
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/reporting-crashes-on-windows/ -
@DoctorG yes. A dump file is generated in the reports folder. Have 4 of them today already and tested on purpose so it matches the whasApp crash.
-
Reported the bug as VB-90989
-
@Durtro I think a dev will inspect this on Monday or later.
-
@DoctorG Man 3 people having same issue on web.whatsapp after the latest update. Its nothing about graphic drivers or windows media features. Its a problem with the latest update on Vivaldi side.
-
I'd like to chime in; I've got the exact same problem after a recent update. In my case its a single chat that crashes.

VB-90720 "WhatsApp tab crashes when attempting to render video" - Confirmed
A bug report users says that happens with videos from iPhone:
all the videos in my WhatsApp chats that cause the tab to crash were shot on iPhones and sent to the chats directly from the iPhone through the app.
-
Yeah happens to me too
-
Me too, after latest update
It happens in a bunch of chat, a tab reload works until next selection of those chats. As described by others, think it's media related.Latest Vivaldi Stable 64bit, windows 10
