Solved Keyboard shortcut to close tab stack
-
This works very nicely, thank you. I created the command chain without the delay and assigned
CTRL+SHIFT+W
to it. -
Thanks, this works well. I didn't guess that Close Tab selected the entire tab stack when in any single tab in a tab stack.
-
This does the trick, @pafflick! Thanks for taking the time to look back and post this new solution.

@pafflick
Hello,If this should be a new post, please let me know and I will be happy to make it. I think the context of this thread is appropriate to keep in mind, but not necessarily relevant to the troubleshooting of my issue since others are having success with this solution.
I tried this method, which I see is working for others, but it does not seem to trigger anything for me. I can see the hotkey is previously assigned to "Window Panel" for both
Ctrl+Shift+W
andCtrl+Alt+W
, so I first tookCtrl+Shift+W
for this purpose, since it makes the most sense whenCtrl+W
will close a single tab.Now, neither when pressing the "Test Chain" button, nor when pressing
Ctrl+Shift+W
, does anything happen. I have just upgraded to version 5.0.2497.38 on the stable channel to acquire this feature. Here is a picture of the command chain configuration.I thought it must be my fault, since I am an advanced user, so I checked my demark. "Surely Vivaldi is working fine, and something else is grabbing my
Ctrl+Shift+W
before Vivaldi sees it, such as AHK." So, I test to see thatCtrl+Alt+W
macro works fine, and it does, the web panel pops up, and I pressCtrl+Alt+W
again, and the web panel disappears. So, I once again clearCtrl+Alt+W
from the Web Panel and assign it to theClose Tab Stack
command chain, but now the hotkey and/or command chain still does not function. I have also tried raising the Delay to 1000 ms, and deleting it entirely, but these configurations also had no result.Can you provide any additional information about what may help me troubleshoot this?

@penguinairlines said in Keyboard shortcut to close tab stack:
when pressing the "Test Chain" button
That should've resulted in closing the current tab when the following option is checked (and the tab itself is not pinned):
Open Settings in a TabIf it's configured like this and still doesn't work, try the basic troubleshooting.

Thanks for getting back with me.
I haven't changed anything but figured I'd test today before reporting in, and it works! I assume something in the background changed with an application and/or system reboot. I should have tried "turning it off and on again" before reporting in.
Thanks again for your solution!

@pafflick Thank you for this. Looks like you are the king of command chains
I created the command chain and updated the menu. Works like charm.
-
@smerugu28 How did you "update the menu"? How can I put own items / reorder items in the right click menu? Thanks.

@radekpilich Settings, Appearance, Menu Customisation.

I just discovered that Vivaldi 5.4, which was released to day, has built-in support to close tab stacks
