@stardepp , nothing, only that Andi think that Alexa isn't privat and an promotion and advertising bot. Apart that Andi really understand what you ask him. That is what I've tested with this entry, but I don't thought in this answer, without showing any search results about Alexa.
-
@catweazle That’s the answer of your average corporate chatbot. It’s hardcoded. The bot didn’t become self‐aware and realized it is far superior to Alexa…
-
@luetage, of course, currently the intelligence of an AI does not actually exceed that of a grasshopper, this is clear, I only find the answer somewhat curious indicating the differences with Alexa.
In any other search engine, the same entry would have only shown me a list of websites with articles about Alexa, without further more.
It is not that it is superior in AI than Alexa, it sure is not, especially since Andi is still in alpha, from a 'company' of 2 devs, but if it is worth having it as a complementary search engine, if you want quick and specific answers, apart from that I naturally use others, such as Metager, Whoogle and some specific ones. -
TinEar has an official Chrome extension that works with Vivaldi...
-
@oakdaleftl , TinEye is fine, but better for image search are these extensions (multisearch)
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/reverse-image-search/cdgbjhkjjghbjjikgjkkpljlmnpcakco
and
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/search-by-image/cnojnbdhbhnkbcieeekonklommdnndci
Anyway this thread isn't about extensions, it's about search engines which you can add to the list in Vivaldi.
-
-
@catweazle Added all three search engines.
-
@stardepp , if you want, you can download here your list in html format

(only when I am online P2P)

Is there a way to force a search string to all-caps (uppercase) before submitting?
I have an engine to look up part numbers of Balluff, but even after a year I still find myself frequently searching for something like "ba bcc098n" which produces the invalid result https://www.balluff.com/en-us/products/bcc098n. I should have used the search "ba BCC098N" to get the valid result https://www.balluff.com/en-us/products/BCC098N.
I typically use search nicknames, so ideally it would still be compatible with that somehow. Not sure if javascript/bookmarklets can be triggered with the search bar like this or not.
Balluff using nickname "ba".

-
@ukanuk Bookmarklets only work on webpages. The “search bar” is either the address field or the search field I assume, which is part of the UI. You are in Vivaldi Modding territory here, might be easier to activate caps lock instead.
-
Use this AHK code: CTRL+u
#NoEnv SendMode Input SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ^u:: ; Convert text to upper OldClipboard:= Clipboard Clipboard:= "" Send, ^c ;copies selected text ClipWait StringUpper Clipboard, Clipboard Send %Clipboard% Sleep 1000 Clipboard:= OldClipboard return

@stardepp - thanks! works just fine!
Update: maybe it's a glitch and in need of further trial spins, but many of the image results fail to appear.
-
Looks like the issue of showing image results is persistent with that address.
http://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/8155/cInMCq.pngMaybe another Searx based one out there will do the trick?
-
Found one!
https://paulgo.io/search?q=%sResponse time is excellent in my part of the world.
-
@danielson I am happy for you.
-
@stardepp - thank you!
I'm glad it is working and will hopefully be useful to others too.
-
@stardepp , another nice one

Ouch. I just tried
vivaldi.net
on that one...I find many of my old emails and some passwords on the Intelligence X site too. Basically the same as
haveibeenpwned.com
except you get more information.Great tool though - But extortionate prices... let's see how long that lasts
