Solved Video download tool like in Firefox
-
Hi! In Firefox there is the feature that allow to user download almost any video by press Shift and Right click and select menu option 'Download'. This feature is more universal that Chrome Extensions and allow to download videos from zoom (records of meetings) and Instagram (and almost any video in the Internet). That would be cool to add this feature to Vivaldi.

Hi, Unfortunately the developers have decided to mark this request as "Will not do", which means this request won't be implemented in Vivaldi.
You can already download some videos delivered by HTML5 by right clicking the player. Some can be downloaded through the developer tools.

Hello everone,
Downloadhelper is not powerful on Chromium based-browsers because he cannot download Youtube videos.
I would like to know if this is possible to create Vivaldi's own downloader of medias.
Thank you so much for your interest !

Baidu's Spark Browser and I think also Opera (Chinese) have the option to download videos from Youtube and other places just by clicking on the video and sending it to download, as I work with this I always need to download videos for presentations, could I suggest also put this in Vivaldi so that once and for all I can actually migrate to Vivaldi?!! I really liked him too. I don't use Chinese Browsers I don't trust..
-
@gutoso Chinese browsers added download functionality from sites that explicitly forbid downloading because chinese don't care about international regulations and copyright laws.
Vivaldi won't probably do the same ever. The last thing Vivaldi needs to be now is to become an enemy of Google.
If you need to download videos from YT use jdownloader2. -
ok i understand... thanks for feedback.
-
@gutoso , from YouTube you can use the desktop client FreeTube, which has a download button, you can do this also with the VLC player, but this only works most in videos without copyright protection in YT.
YouTube in the last few months has become very restrictive, even preventing the majority of videos from being inserted in social networks and forums, where only a black box appears with the link to see the video on YouTube itself. -

Vote for the exisitng request Video Download Tool Like in Firefox, but as noted above it will probably never happen.
-
@gutoso You can use tubeoffline dot com. It supports various sources not only Youtube.

I think it would be nice if a media grabber could be made for Vivaldi, that can download audio/video from different sites. Sure we can download some programs which do that, but what's the fun in that? Also it's not all in one browser then
-
@ibay770 Vivaldi is not and it has never been stated anywhere that's a all-in-one browser. It would be counterproductive for the devs to state anything like that. No program can include everything a computer can do. At some point you should get a program that does a particular task no other program does or does better than other programs.
Jdownloader is probably what you're looking for. -
@ibay770 There are legal issues with downloading content from YouTube (and no doubt other sites too), so Vivaldi could be sued.
The following restrictions apply to your use of the Service. You are not allowed to:
access, reproduce, download, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, alter, modify or otherwise use any part of the Service or any Content except: (a) as specifically permitted by the Service; (b) with prior written permission from YouTube and, if applicable, the respective rights holders; or (c) as permitted by applicable law;

What a correct and wise statement!!!!!!

You can use the command line tool youtube-dl or its fork yt-dlp to download videos from YT (and many other sites). There is also a GUI version.

Hi, Thanks for your feature request.
This looks like a duplicate of https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/62725/video-download-tool-like-in-firefox Please vote & discuss at that thread, thank you.
You can use the forum search first to see if you can find similar requests. If that doesn't work, I've catalogued all the requests here.

Hi. I was using media grabber in torch browser so much.. And I think it is very useful feature.. So Everyone can download videos over many media sites and youtube too.
//MODEDIT: merged with the existing request
-
@droidev I doubt this will be ever implemented. Media grabbers are in a gray area and fetching videos from youtube (and most sites, actually) is a violation of g-services Terms of Service.
-
@Hadden89 Hmm.. Actually I knew that downloading video from youtube can be illegal but UC Browser for mobile download video from many media web sites.. Almost all video playing sites except Youtube .. But Torch Browser for desktop downloads from all video sites (Downloading in its site doesnt work anymore for some reason but UC browser mobile is available for years in play store).. And why there is youtube downloader web sites there ?
