BUG: Negative amount of likes on posts
-
So, I was Browsing around on the forum and found an issue/bug on this particular thread : https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/15510/really-old-recipes/3
As you can see there seems to be a negative amount of likes on that post, which shouldnt normally be possible
Is this just for me or do all of you see the same thing? -
@hololoyoj Is a old forum bug, downvotes from the past were not reset after a forum update.
-
@doctorg Ohhhh i see
-
@hololoyoj I prefer the forum the way that it was. Allowing downvotes lets users show their quiet disapproval of toxic posts without getting involved in a flame-war if they prefer to remain silent.
-
@pesala That’s your example? OP got downvoted and below is the flame war and posts needed to be deleted. If anything, the downvotes aggravated the situation and angered the user. I much prefer the system we currently have, although I still think downvotes should be allowed for feature requests 🦘

@guigirl Very unsuspicious ️️
-
@luetage Perhaps the same thing is true for FRs, if people don’t like it, they should say why.

Actually, I think it's a good example. That user registered an account using a temporary e-mail service, attacked a few forum members who didn't agree with him (or her), and then left on the same day and never came back (perhaps they don't remember how many "fdfsfds" they put in their e-mail address?)
And judging by the contents of that user's (now deleted, but still visible to moderators) replies I don't think that they were angered by the downvotes in particular. IMO the posts that needed to be deleted were deleted.
But whenever you feel that some inappropriate posts have somehow managed to slip through, don't hesitate to report them. It's a good way of bringing attention to an issue that might've been overlooked by one of the mods, and it could be handled by another mod (or even discussed internally).
