Vivaldi 4.0: Vivaldi Translate and betas of Vivaldi Mail, Calendar and Feed Reader are here

@darylo AFAIK when you import from Opera M2 it will create the same type of accounts - so your POP account in Opera will show up as a POP account in Vivaldi... not IMAP, therefore no uploading of messages.
That's been my experience anyway. Also, I don't think you can change a POP account into an IMAP account and vice versa, nor have I been able to migrate messages from one account to another.
In other words, in my case if I wanted to switch to using IMAP for the account which was POP in Opera, I would have to create a second IMAP account next to the imported POP account. It's a bit messy, but at least all the messages will be next to each other in the received, sent etc. views.
-
@mossman Well, my problem is that it would be the same account so I would need assurance that Vivaldi would not attempt to retrieve email from the POP3 server as it would then empty all the mail from my IMAP server.

It did not delete messages when it copied my Opera POP account.
I was also worried about this, but the Vivaldi accounts are initially set up with no automatic deleting. I currently have Opera as the main storage for all my mail, one test Vivaldi snapshot on the same PC which has copied the Opera mail and passively downloads the POP messages, and another snapshot on laptop which has IMAP connections to the same mail accounts.
Opera is set up to delete from server after a couple of months, so the laptop automatically has older messages deleted after a while. It's quite a convenient arrangement - so I will eventually drop Opera and let Vivaldi on the PC continue with POP and get it to delete older messages from server as well.

Where did the keyboard shortcut for translating websites go? Did they remove it or am I just not finding it? Background is, I prefer to translate a website by hitting a keystroke and don't want auto-translation nor do I want to click the icon with the mouse.
-
@mossman Thanks for the feedback! I'll give this a try. It will be great to have access to all of my old emails again! Many years ago, Opera had an issue and I lost all of my labels. Maybe I'll get lucky and Vivaldi will restore them without me having to recreate them. It would be nice, though, if Vivaldi could make their labels auto-generated based on a recipient's email address!

There is no command to which anyone could assign a keystroke. The feature is very recent. Perhaps you used an extension for this before?
-
@pesala The shortcut did exist on snapshot for a while, I used it myself. It isn’t being shown anymore and it doesn’t work.
-
@pesala I did not use a extension for it. I think it was on Vivaldi 3.8 but not sure. It was a stable release, no nightly build or snapshot. You could set it up in -> settings -> keyboard -> translate websites (if I remember well).
I don't understand why it's being removed because it is a super useful shortcut imo.
I really hope it was unintentionally and they bring it back. Because normally on this great browser you can set it up the way you like it. -
Dragging tabs and stacks is broken: whatever you do, a tab ends up at the end of the tabs list and a stack – at the beginning. The only way to drag a tab or a stack to a desirable position is to use Window side panel instead of the tab bar.
Not sure if relevant: tabs on the side, several windows open, both in MacOS and Windows 10. -
"We’ve worked quite a bit on PGP and you can expect it in future releases"
I really, really hope, that statement somehow silently included S/MIME support as well. I've been waiting for it since the very first M2 versions...
-
@xtremalraven I have no problem with dragging tabs when they are on the side, using the latest Snapshot or the latest Stable version.
Which Tab Stacking option do you use?

Silly question but still. Has anybody reported the no sound on Tiktok bug? It works fine on Edge chromium, but both Vivaldi stable and snapshot cannot reproduce sound on tiktok. In the forums I found only one relevant post, but the issue was never examined, so it seems.
Also, sound works on every other page - it's only Tiktok that doesn't reproduce sound. -
@escorpiom In the topic, Tiktok videos won't play, it says that they work in a Private window.
-
@pesala: Well, the videos do play fine. However, there is no sound.
I've tried in a private window, videos also play fine but without any sound.
The issue is not the playback, it's the sound that's missing.
I've reset permissions, cleared cookies, to no avail. It happens both in dev and stable.
There is no issue on Edge chromium on the same system. I just can't figure it out. -
@escorpiom The videos play fine for me, but they are muted by default, which seems like a sensible choice.
Just click the icon to unmute the sound.

@stardepp , muted Videos by default also often ocurres in Twitter and other social nets
-
@pesala: Yes, that's obvious. I do unmute the video and the "X" disappears, but still there is no sound. Also, clicking on the speaker icon I can mute and unmute - it makes no difference. No sound is being played.
-
@stardepp: As said, I can unmute or mute, there is no difference. Video plays but there is no sound at all. I can even download the video and it's complete with sound, but sound in the browser just doesn't work. Only on tiktok, other pages do not exhibit this issue.
-
@escorpiom , have you tried it in a guest profile? Maybe it's an extension you use which cause this.
