Vertical Bookmark Bar on Right or Left
-
@pesala Uhmm, no, they're not. It's more complex than it looks, especially considering the fact that a bookmark bar item can be favicon, text, or both - and the implications concerning bar width that this presents. Also, a vertical element is not the same kind of entity as a horizontal one. A "top" and a "bottom" bookmark bar can be the same object. A horizontal bookmark bar and a vertical one cannot be the same, or the same kind of, object. What I mean by "Tuesday" of course is that this kind of option is taken as normal and expected in Vivaldi, not something new or outlandish. That doesn't mean it's easy. Just that it is taken for granted it must occur.

dont think this is ever coming?
-
@schreck It almost certainly is. But there are other priorities at this time. Not everything can be done right away. Browser development is not like decorating a room. You can't simply pick things and add them.
-
dont think 3 years asking for this is "right away". and still nothing..
-
@schreck I can be patient. Other things I want more ARE being worked on.

hello dear all - good day dear zaibon

@albinoni But isn't the bookmarks panel exactly what you want in this case? Just press "F6" and you're done
i tried f6 - but what is this flip of action doing here
love to hear from you
btw- pretty new to vivaldi. I want to test the vertical bookmark bar - feature. how to do that?!
-
@steelie There's no such feature in Vivaldi. You would have to look at Opera 12 or earlier.
-
@Albinoni
I made it.
You will need to adjust the size for your monitor..bookmark-bar {
position: absolute; top:460px;left:-427px; z-index: 1;
width:880px;
transform: rotate( 90deg )!important;
} -
@shifte Yeah. That would not be how it works. The idea is to have the contents upright, not rotated, in the same way that vertical tabs still read left-to-right.

@ayespy
Thanks!
I've moved here.

I also think that the space on panoramic screens is wasted for web pages and is only suitable for videos and games. This is the reason why I have dispensed with the Status Bar and used Vertical Tabs. With this I still have a generous space to open the Web Panel, without changing the space used for the web page.
However I think that the Bookmark Bar is fine horizontally, first more Bookmarks fit and second the few pixels in height it occupies is irrelevant, at least on my screen. -
@catweazle The vertical bookmarks bar is more about eye movement than it is about space. Keeping the eyes near both the vertical tabs and the bookmarks bar at the same time.
-
@ayespy , I don't know, I don't have to twist my eyes a lot with the horizontal bookmarks either, I think that like I have it, it is quite ergonomic and handy, but this I suppose, it depends a lot on the preferences in the workflow of each one

Exactly.
