There are scripts out there, which already try to achieve this, but none of them seems to be functional. My suspicion is youtube regularly changes underlying code so the solutions become obsolete fast.

I'm not js expert, so is it possible to use js to block all <video> tag from loading until we click on it? Nothing Youtube can do if we manage to block or delay the <video> from loading in our browser.

@dude99 I don’t know. I think it would be better Vivaldi provided us with an inbuilt feature stopping all videos from autoplaying.

There is the extension Enhancer for Youtube

This allows blocking of autoplay videos (on Youtube)

I remember I was using YouTube Plus many years ago. And some day developer decided to include (optionally iirc) crypto miner into it. I still have in my bookmarks his next extension - Iridium. Never tried it though.

Chrome had an autoplay-policy flag some time ago. But it was (!) removed. They surely don't want users to block autoplay videos with ads. Not surprising.

Not every Cat helps you to block AutoPlay physically, you can ask the IT Support.

At least now exists Vivaldi.

Remembering Opera and the Click to Run just tried a Presto AC - Original should be in another Disk - and can't load Youtube, Vimeo and other video sites :|

I just checked Firefox, the option is still there, and it works!

So Firefox is the only browser right now that has built-in option to disable autoplay.

I use "AutoplayStopper" extension. It stops videos YouTube videos from automatically playing.

ImprovedTube works fine even on Playlists, not sure on those Embed with AutoPlay.

The one as example doesn't start in a Clean Profile either so I can't check.

But isn't just loaded the Vid image?
With Click2Load you can't see the Thumb which is useful in some situations others than Spam on News.
