Stop Video/Audio = stop buffering
-
Once media begin playing there is no way to stop/suspend it from buffering even when you STOP it. Currently, You can only PAUSE it from playing but it will keep buffering in the background, that's the most bizarre behavior for video/audio tag implementation in HTML5 (other than we can't stop any media from playing/buffering on-load).
So, I think there should be a default browser implementation to FORCE Stop/Suspend any video/audio tag on demand by user, regardless of the media player support for such feature. Just like img & gif, we should be able to stop 'em from buffering when we want to.
Thanks.

This userscript can stop some video buffering, not perfect but better than nothing: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts?q=viewtube

BUMP!
If all media player apps & hardware have a STOP button to terminate video & audio from continue playing, WHY all self-proclaim cutting edge, modern Internet browser doesn't have one built in since the inception of HTML5 <video> & <audio> tag, how many years have past now?
IMHO Vivaldi can take the lead again to become the pioneer of pro-consumer innovator. The first Internet browser with a built-in STOP media button - Vivaldi. Does that sounds good?
Just like good old Opera, the first browser with innovative tab browsing UI, MDI support, panels, session manager, integrated download manger, & mail client...etc. You can do it again Vivaldi!

stopping buffering is one of the worst non-features of fancy players some services implement, forces you to watch video with bitrate lower than your bandwidth
