Vivaldi fires up performance
-
In Vivaldi 3.7.2218.45, the bug VB-60323 [aka VB-60364] was claimed to be fixed but it really is not. And I am very disappointed at how lazy of a fix attempt it is. All that was changed was adding a message that prevents ALT+F4 from being set as hotkey, saying it is reserved by the system. But all other hotkey combinations that include ALT+F4 in them still acts as exit, such as SHIFT+ALT+F4. Please fix it properly, by at least allowing the other hotkey combinations that include ALT+F4 in them.

The German tech blog Deskmodder reports positively about Vivaldi 3.7

@silfver To view your tabs in fullscreen, set a shortcut to show/hide the tab bar in Settings, Keyboard, View. No shortcut is set by default.

@stardepp Add to Vivaldi on the Web

For the record, can the actual version number be included somewhere in these blog posts? Not at the top necessarily, but somewhere. 3.7.2218.45.

I hope Vivaldi can improve CTRL+WHEEL zooming performance...

Wow, this is an amazing release. Great job team. Really feeling the speed increase and the (new) tab stacking is great.
EDIT: From the article... "(confession: we are still gushing over the response to this innovation)" haha, that's awesome to hear.

Thank's! Very nice update, as usual.
-
@jan-ripper: Same thing happened to me. Had to pin vivalidi_proxy.exe to the Win 10 taskbar. I like having Vivaldi on the taskbar.
-
And long may it continue! It would be nice if Vivaldi would focus a lot on pure performance and optimization now with version 3.8.

Great update, thanks Vivaldi Team!
But this new quick command it doesn't work for me:
Also, you can periodically reload websites through Quick Commands. Just type โPeriodic reload 2โ, press enter and the tab will reload every 2 mins.
This command causes the page to refresh every minute
-
@szczyputek Herein, 2 means 2 seconds. The minimum value is 1 minute.

Great update guys! Thank you!

Looking great so far. Only thing i'm noticing is : when having the second row locked, when adding new tab it always creates it as a tab inside a group (for example: if I have only 1 tab and I add one, it creates a tab stack with the two).

@altcode: Are you freaking kidding me...
Thanks for the tip!

Thank you, Vivaldi team.
Now that editable webpage context menus are available in this stable release (and recent snapshot releases also), there is a workaround for the issue where clicking the webpage right-click menu's "Reload" option while having Vivaldi's developer tools open would cause the browser's UI to crash/reload. Vivaldi then becomes temporarily unstable basically until it is restarted. (Edit: I think that I've found the related bug: VB-64259.) Changing to the "Reload Page" option fortunately seems to no longer cause this issue when the developer tools are open.
It would be welcome if "Reload Page" was made the default instead of "Reload" for reloading through that menu as long as it continues to work as expected, unless there already have been plans to fix "Reload" soon, especially to help users who might not be aware of this workaround.
Forum thread for more context: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/51360/inspect-element-reload-through-context-menu-crashes-tab
Please continue working on fixing any issues with Vivaldi's developer tools also. There should be some users who would definitely like to use Vivaldi more for web development, testing, and troubleshooting.

Wow! I just upgraded to 3.7 and am wondering if I should have. I've been reading the comments and don't understand a thing that's being said. I really like the idea of this browser, but don't know if I'll ever learn what it's capable of. Keep trying though...don't let me hold anything up.

i use vivaldi daily and this new update is definitely way faster.
