Nice rhyme! It's fantastic news that now Vivaldi's 2 times faster on M1 logic processors!

Great work Vivaldi team!
The performance improvements in opening new tabs are really noticeable, and I've yet to see a "dead bird" on tab close with this version. Brilliant!
In addition to the performance improvements, a big change for me was the ability to customise the page context menus.
Can't wait for the first 3.8 Snapshot and cool new stuff to test!

Nice. My device really needed the performance boost.
[Tabs] Improve drag and drop between tab bars (VB-74588)
Yep. It's an improvement. It's much, much better, assuming you are dragging and dropping between tab bars. On a single bar it still doesn't feel as snappy as it used to, which may or may not be what you were going for.
That being said, issues are still present. Not sure if it's just for tabs at the bottom, but I need to report that gaps when dragging tabs feels unsatisfying, especially on stable (since school from home has me using stable almost exclusively now). I should go record that.

Awesome to see some big performance improvements! I hope Vivaldi improves hotkey performance next...

Thanks for this great update
But one more question, when will the problem with the German download panel be fixed?

performance improvements are nice but at the end of a day what matters is time and frustration required to finish a task and optimizing it requires friendly UI
and unfortunately there's still so much to do before I can make V my default browser
everything is reported and hopefully tracked internally toobut it may be a good moment to remind you that marking feature request as done when it is not done is simply wrong

I have very weird behavior after updating to this version regarding my pinned Vivaldi icon on the taskbar (Win10): When clicking the pinned icon, the browser doesn't start. When I use the vivaldi.exe directly, it works like a charm. Re-pinning did not help so far.
As a workaround I've pinned vivaldi_proxy.exe to my taskbar which does the trick.

Great job.

Not listed but VB-76557 "Render bug css backdrop-filter since version 3.6" Also seems to be fixed after the 3.7 update on my pc atleast
Quick test also shows that this one is fixed. VB-73617 "Resize glitch internal PDF reader on two monitors with different scaling". Seems like the UI of the internal PDF is changed anyway (by chomium?)

@Gwen-Dragon Great, thanks. I updated the reply with another bug that seems to be fixed (alteast it is not as buggy anymore as it used to be)

As I was trying to record my first bug I just happened to encounter a second one. On stable.
https://imgur.com/a/vREWI5XIt's ridiculous.

@infosrefanvlad said in Vivaldi fires up performance:
That has to do with the setting "Minimize Active Tab", the new tab dragging doesn't work so well with this setting right now.
Already been reported by me (VB-77817).

I simply do not understand how to drag tabs anymore in 3.7 stable. I have spent ages trying to drag tabs in a private window without succeeding (dragging tabs in a guest window does not seem to work either), and when I try to drag tabs in a regular window, if it is not a simple matter of dragging a tab to the end, most of the time I end up creating a tab stack instead of moving a tab. Even turning off allowing tab stacking by drag and drop does not help: if I do not drag a tab to the appropriate position (which seems like a fairly small area compared to previous builds), then instead of moving the tab, there is no operation performed instead.
Also, moving tabs on a Windows tablet has become impossible using drag and drop with fingers: the tab that I want to drag becomes highlighted with a blue box and the name disappears, but there is no overlay box that is visible if I were using a mouse. In the end the only way I have figured out to cancel the failed operation is to bring up the touch keyboard and press Esc on it.
I have had to switch to using keyboard shortcuts to move tabs reliably instead.

How many bugs can you count in 30 seconds in a stable build?
Sorry for the quality.
https://imgur.com/a/hXfQUZsI may seem like just complaining, but the truth is that I care for the browser's userbase to grow. I'm worried about the impression it will give to newcomers. Bugs is why there is a snapshot channel. The best browser's basic functionalities, such as Vivaldi's (no kidding) amazing tabs, should always work in the stable channel no matter how much the devs tampered with them in between releases.
My issues are the following:
- sometimes the last tab in a stack cannot be dragged
- sometimes there are gaps in between tabs before or even after a tab is no longer being dragged
- the name of the notes manager tab briefly changed to start page
I will try to see whether the issues disappear after "Minimize Active Tab" is turned off.
I won't even bother putting my tabs up, left, right for tests. Stable builds do not need tests. They are not snapshots. I gladly give help, provided it is actually being used. Given the issues were reported by others, therefore known, I don't know why they slipped. All I know is I cannot use my browser properly. Which I'm used to provided I heavily used snapshots up until recently, but not every stable user is me sadly.
-
I can confirm my issues appear regardless of "Minimize Active Tab" being active. I happen to be on Windows 7 right now.
Also they appear almost every time I dare to use my tabs. Tab gaps are consistent. Pop-up saying 'Start Page' is consistent with non-settings internal tabs, except for the notes manager tab, which is inconsistently changing between start page and <note title>. Last tab of a stack being undraggable is not consistent at all. -
Good job on this release!
[Tabs] Canβt display tab bar in full screen (VB-76386)
Where can I find information about this ticket? I'd like to see my tabs in full screen. -
In Vivaldi 3.7.2218.45, the bug VB-60323 [aka VB-60364] was claimed to be fixed but it really is not. And I am very disappointed at how lazy of a fix attempt it is. All that was changed was adding a message that prevents ALT+F4 from being set as hotkey, saying it is reserved by the system. But all other hotkey combinations that include ALT+F4 in them still acts as exit, such as SHIFT+ALT+F4. Please fix it properly, by at least allowing the other hotkey combinations that include ALT+F4 in them.

The German tech blog Deskmodder reports positively about Vivaldi 3.7
