Lost tabs
-
Hello,
For no apparent reason Vivaldi decided to delete all open tabs after a restart, although this usually doesn't happen often, I was able to find them each time through the recycle bin telling me "window with x tabs ", or with the small cloud icon" tabs synchronized ". However, I just lost everything, this cloud icon is grayed out, and the trash can not show me any past windows or tabs.
Would there be a way to access the "history" of the account to retrieve all these tabs? It's vital haha -
You could try opening a second window and then closing it. Sometimes closed windows don't show up in the trash can until you do this.
If that doesn't work, there are some tricks you can do using the files stored in your Vivaldi profile. There is a thread somewhere here on the forum with a lot of discussions about this but I can't find it at the moment; hopefully someone else can link it.
Until that happens, don't close Vivaldi or it might overwrite the data in your profile and remove your old session forever.

@Komposten probably wanted to point you to this great guide

Hi, first of all thank you for your answers.
The problem is that Vivladi seemingly deleted the previous session, making me unable to restore my tabs in any way even when closing and reopening a window. I already tried to manually changes my "previous session" to current one, but it was already overwritten for no reason.
That's why I was asking if there was an "history" of my previous session in the cloud, but I'm apparently doomed...
Anyway, thank you for the mods that will avoid me this much trouble in the future. -

Hi, thanks for your anwser.
I haven't touched anything in it, after checking in it I'm seeing that I'm logged as Profile 1, and there's no other Profile when I'm looking into the Manage profile tab.
Yes, everything else is the same, everything stayed exactly as it was except the tabs.In the about tab, my profile path is set to Default.
Thanks for those links, the only things I've found why looking for similar problems on the forum where solution to avoid them before they happened unofrtunately, I've done everything so it will not happen again but I would still greatly appreciate getting everything back.

Check for Session folder on the Profile.
Maybe there is a .bak Session with the old Tabs.
You could also check about Restore Points, whether they exist, and try to recover from there.
Make a Backup before.
-
The only thing I find in the Default folder concerning Session is the "Session Storage" folder containing those files
I fortunately have a restore point from a couple days ago, I'll try for that, thank you so much. -
Good!
Try to restore just the files, if there's none on the Previous Version, the Restore Point, probably will not fix it.
But, you can try it anyway.

@Zalex108
Nothing with the Restore PointGetting me back to the current Session. And no Previous Sessions.
No signs of any "Sessions" folder too
-
Oh...
About Tabs:
Do you use Sync?
You would check on other devices whether they still appear on the Top Right Cloud.About Sessions:
Are you on latests V version? -
@Zalex108
I do use Sync,
When checking on phone, I just find my Current Session, not the lost one.I do not, I'm on 2.5. Even tho I checked the "prevent new updates" I haven't seen anything, should I update ?
-
@Lowengeist said in Lost tabs:
Do you mean, on the Cloud and Device the Tab is Empty?
Or you are not aware about they are accessible from the Device too?Maybe is related to the old Desktop version.
should I update ?
To be on the latest is the better for Security reasons.
If the reason on old ones is that there is some bug not fixed on the updates, then you could download and install V as StandAlone and check on new updates from there, in case the Bug us not listed as fixed but may be depends also on Device Drivers or other things.
Just to check.
-
@Zalex108
No, no, I mean that I see the tabs from my PC, but those tabs are the one I have right now, not the one I lost previously.Alright, I downloaded the new version, but still, nothing...
-
Ok...
The only way is to check the History Item by Item.
I don't know what would happened.Now, then, Backups + Mod.
-
@Zalex108
Yeah that will be hard haha, the history is very long, has many things not present and some things I were looking for goes up to multiple months back...Thank you for your help tho !! Really appreciate it. I'm installing those mods right now.
