Specific mobile speed dial
-
As far as I can see our current situation is this: All speed dials are bookmark folders, all bookmark folders can be designated as speed dial. The speed dials on mobile and desktop look and function the same.
My suggestion is to introduce an additional checkbox in desktop and mobile version to only show the selected bookmarks folder on either desktop or mobile (or both by checking both checkboxes). This way we can choose on which device specific speed dials are being displayed and where not.
Another curiosity is the designated mobile bookmarks entry on the Android version, which seems to want to achieve something similar. In my opinion not needed: Keep it simple: Bookmarks on all devices the same, but these bookmarks/folders can be handled differently.

If you open the bookmarks panel in the app and click the
<
next to "Bookmarks bar" (the page title) you can then select "Mobile bookmarks" and put mobile-specific speed dials in there. Not possible to have desktop-specific speed dials, though, as far as I know.

First of all, im so exited that this app came out. I waited for it so long!!! Thank you norwegian!!! Wouldn´t it be nice to seperate bookmarks and speed dial? My speed dials on windows doesnt make any sence on mobile. For example YouTube or Maps, we use apps for this. I think it would be nice if I could just sync my bookmarks OR speed dials. Last but not least, will you be able to select the speed dial symbols yourself as in the desktop version in the future? I love this feature.

That really doesn't work as the mobile bookmarks folder can't be set as Speed Dial

I have a problem here.
I've noticed than the Speed Dial folder is the exact same across platforms. Which is really annoying, because I always save totally different bookmark depending on the device.

Actually, there already is a different Speed Dial for mobile, it's called Mobile Speed Dial but it is in a different tree than your regular bookmarks. There is a root called Bookmarks which is what you see on the desktop. It has a sibling which is called Mobile Bookmarks that you do not see on your desktop, and it is inside that folder where Mobile Speed Dial exists.
This allows the user to create bookmarks & a speed dial for the mobile device, yet still access all the desktop bookmarks. If you create a bookmark on the desktop you can access on your mobile. If you create a bookmark on your mobile and save into a folder inside the Bookmarks tree, you can see it on your desktop.
Speed Dials are nothing more than a bookmarks folder with the speed dial attribute set. I have ~8-10 speed dials, some permanent & some that come & go with my current projects.
Edit to add: the mobile speed dial appears by default & first in the list of speed dials on the mobile device. Just like you can access your regular bookmarks on mobile, you can also access your regular speed dials by clicking on their names in the list. The list will scroll when you have lots of them.

@BoneTone Ok, i figured it out. Apparently, my "Panels" shortcut in the mobile app opens the PC bookmarks folder, and i need to tap "Backwards" to see the root and mobile folders. I don't know if this happens by default, or i just did it unintentionally.

It used to go to mobile bookmarks by default, but I think too many people were confused about how to find their bookmarks that they switched it.
But just to be clear, the speed dial is different than that panel and you can create speed dials directly in it on your mobile. Just click the plus icon in the speed dial, give it a name and paste in the URL. I actually prefer this to bookmarking the page and changing its location because my library is so big that it takes some time for the folder list to populate when moving bookmarks on my mobile, and I like to give the speed dial bookmarks short names rather than using whatever the page title is.

Hi, Thanks for your feature request. This looks like a duplicate of https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/40043/specific-mobile-speed-dial Please vote & discuss at that thread, thank you.
You can use the forum search first to see if you can find similar requests. If that doesn't work, I've catalogued all the requests here.

We have agreed that the Mobile version could use some sort of a dedicated Speed Dial, so we added this request to our pipeline. Various details regarding the implementation will probably have to be discussed once the work starts.
