An Easter egg for April Fools’ Day
-
@ornorm: $HOUSEMATE asked, "Why make something useful like that only work on April first?" (My reply: There's usually a clock on screen anyway.)
-
I found the Easter egg. In the panel, the course is displayed today as an analog clock with moving hands. The clock shows the current time.
Please do not remove this clock !!!

Due to the positive feedback about this cool easter I actually did a request
(I don't think is a good idea keeping as "true" setting, as panel could change a lot in the meantime -- and devs shouldn't have to fix an easter )@Vakkotaur Dynamic history clock is not about usefullness. It's just nice to see, and make appear Vivaldi (even more) like a dynamic and live project.
Or at least is how I consider this "feature". -
- Thought that it was a bug.
- Remembered that I came across the blog post about easter egg.
- I think I found one.
Really apreciate animating pictures so they turn upside down.
Could have made a better choice for the font though -
Talking of April's fools jokes on other sites - the stackoverflow.one is pretty cool. Not super-original but I like the cursor effect, and a very nice write-up of some internet history.

- I saw @Hadden89's request
- I looked at history panel–couldn't find it
- Disabled all mods (including the ones hiding header and changing the panel icon)
- Opened new window
- Tried to find the clock again–still nothing
- Looked at the icon and thought How could somebody design that ugly icon?
- Tried to find some explantation in the forum–found this topic
- Huh...
-
I also noticed the real-time clock history icon.
I'm not the first but proud of myself. Please add this as a feature. ))
-
I hate these easter eggs. I can look right at it for hours and never see them.
I agree. It should stay this way. -
The history icon is different in both stable and unstable..... Those Collectors edition stickers are cool
-
thanks global mods for the bundle hack so i can keep this after april fools, just sad that i wasn't the first, but ill keep my open for the next time i can nab those: “collector edition” stickers particularly the orange version.
-
Google have this one for today
-
Can you bring back previous "light" panel icons? I don't like new bold.
-
New to Vivaldi. Love the browser. Love the easter egg. Please keep it.
-
Hope you all enjoyed our “ticking” clock yesterday!
In the words of @helmers, our dev who snuck this into the browser for you: “Checked the blog again. Truly overwhelming feedback.”
The first to post the correct reply was @apanx1 who said: “The clock icon for the history panel shows current time instead of just being static at 4 o’clock. This reverts if the date is not 1st of April."
@apanx1 I’ve contacted you through the forum chat, we have a few fun Vivaldi stickers for you
-
Was it the history icon? I just figured that was a new feature since I had just gotten the latest snapshot, but it seems to be gone today!
-
@ajk It was only for Apr 1.
-
@ajk You can upvote this feature request.
-
@ajk: ah ok, it was! Darn I just thought that was a new feature
-
"your local time" is unfair!!! Should be UTC.
-
@mrmeireles It doesn't display any real time right now. UTC would be easily doable though.
