Vivaldi now includes Qwant, a search engine that respects your privacy
-
@ornorm: Maybe you like https://duckduckgo.com/lite/ better?
-
@allo Thanks a lot for sharing this.
-
@allo would you be up for describing in less technical terms the data you saw being transmitted, and what you discovered when searching with Qwant? Thanks!
-
Regarding Qwant and its privacy: I asked their legal and ethical guy call Guillaume Champeau on Twitter who replied me the following (it was in French so I translated it in English):
“Qwant doesn't keep any personal information. We don't care who clicks what and we don't record it. One thing though obviously any (real) search engine needs to know which links are clicked for a given search. It helps to improve the results.”
How do you feel about Qwant now?
-
@gaelle We say "Merci Guillaume"
-
Will it come to Vivaldi on Android too? It's been 2.5 years since this blog post. I know Vivaldi on Android is pretty new but still, i miss the option. Thank you so much.
-
@maiklindner We need custom search engines on mobile, but good point.
-
@maiklindner: Same here. Moving to Vivaldi but can't get my favorite qwant as default search on Android side. Sad...
