Tab renaming – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 3392.10
-
If possible, please add an option in settings to open tabs in new tabs using the address bar

@295001366
Hi, if you need a new feature create a feature request.https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/185/desktop-feature-requests
You can search for existing requests, I bet this is one of the 5000 requests we have already.

@295001366 Shift+Enter should already work.
-
@Pesala Shift+Enter . It seems to open a new window. Is there a shortcut key to quickly open a tab in the address bar of this window? Thank you
-
@295001366 For me, it opens a new tab.
-
is this intended or a bug:
since 1-2 month if you close a second window and reopen it (via trashbin), the first tab is active. before it was the last opened tab, which was activeWin10 22H2

Scrolling broken on tfl journey planner
No problem on Stable; broken on latest Snapshot. Also broken on New Private Window and with uBlock Origin disabled.
Reported bug:
VB-107747 Scroll Bar not available on tfl Journey Planner

@barbudo2005 Right click on tab, then choose Rename.
-
Thank you. And how is the dialog for renaming?
-
@barbudo2005
The tab title is highlighted: -
@mib2berlin @Gif2D
According to your experience and page navigation, in which cases would you change the name of a particular page? -
@barbudo2005
Never, thought about for 30 seconds but I cant find a situation where this would be helpful to me.
2 workspaces with 12 and 7 tabs, main has one tab at start and one at closing Vivaldi.Cheers, mib

@Ruarí I guess a shortcut for Rename Tab would be in order, since we have one for Rename Tab Stack.
-
I ask the same question to those who have the latest Snapshot installed:
Please give examples of which pages you would rename?
-
@barbudo2005 It would be a page that a user often leaves open. The reason for renaming it is to reduce the length of the Page Title so that it fits on the default tab width, and is easier to spot on the Tab Bar.
For Example: Vivaldi Browser, Community and Services Help could be renamed to Vivaldi Help.

First = mail
second = RSS
third = downloads
fourth = notes
fifth = bookmarks
sixt and last = contactsHope this will help you narrowing the error

You have mentioned two main aspects of the issue:
1.- Fits on the default inactive tab width and that can differentiate one tab from another appearing with the same title.
2.- Easier to spot on the Tab Bar and that the information in the title that is not relevant does not distract me.
Let's look at the aspect N° 1:
There are a large number of domains that puts the domain name as the header of the title and therefore, given the small width of the tab, you can not distinguish any of them because they all look the same:
Case of Github:
In my case it is not so critical because the width of my inactive tabs is large, but it is still annoying because there is non-relevant information that distracts me and makes it difficult to distinguish one from the other (Aspect N° 2).
But in the case of users who do not have a predefined width it is really critical:
Compare with this:
Let's look at the aspect N° 2:
Case of Vivaldi Forum:
Although the Vivaldi Forum domain is well coded and the domain name appears at the end of the title, it is also a distraction that does not allow the tab to be easily identified and is clearly distracting.
Compare with this:
In Windows Panel:
Your example is valid but it deals with particular cases of pages that I keep open, but what about the hundreds of pages that you browse and that fall into the two aspects mentioned above?
The problem is that the feature as it is proposed does not allow to solve any of the two situations, that commonly occur on a daily basis.

The browser defaults to Bookmarks panel now on each restart, no idea if intentional.
I usually prefer Mail to be the default panel and use Vivaldi as my mail client, didn't find any way to change the behavior.
Apologies if it's a known issue I missed. -
There seems to be a regression regarding the bookmarks tree in the panel. Double clicking on a folder to expand it is somewhat broken. At first, when I double click, I only see the scrollbar indicate that there's more stuff to scroll through, but I don't actually see the folder expanding. Sometimes double clicking a second time works, sometimes it doesn't. Same thing for closing the folder.

@barbudo2005 I rename a tab that is long and changes constantly to something shorter [These aren't the exact same tab but exemplary.]
