Bookmarks Won't Import From HTML or Firefox
-
Thanks for confirming. Was really wondering how it could have been a system configuration issue on my end. Looking forward to a solution.

The issue seems to be Linux distribution specific. Here are some temporary work around until we can roll out a fix.
- Uninstall Firefox (even temporarily) and move
~/.mozilla
to~/.temporaryzilla
(temporarily). - Or, you can import your HTML Bookmarks Export into Vivaldi for Flatpak and then move the bookmarks file from
~/.var/app/com.vivaldi.com/config/vivaldi/Default/Bookmarks
to~/.config/vivaldi/Defauult
. (Always quit the apps before moving their files around.) You can then delete the Flatpak version, if you don’t want two versions.
Not ideal, but the above workarounds mean we know roughly what’s wrong and how to fix it. So, you can alternatively wait a while and look out for VB-107436 in a future changelog.
- Uninstall Firefox (even temporarily) and move

This issue should be fixed in the Vivaldi 3405.3 snapshot (test version).

I just encountered this issue on macOS:
6.8.3381.53 (Stable channel) (arm64)
Export .html from Chrome.
Verify .html by opening it in a browser.
in Vivaldi Bookmarks > Import > Bookmarks HTML File.
get a folder imported from Firefoxedit:
I forgot to note that I have both Firefox and Firefox Nightly installed. Interestingly, Vivaldi imported from FF Nightly when I imported from my .html file. Also, as a workaround, I imported my .html file into FF Nightly and then attempted to import the .html file in Vivaldi again. As expected it imported from FF Nightly again, and I for the bookmarks I had just added from my .html file.

Debian 12: i import HTML file exported from Chrome 127.0.6533.119 and do not get such folder "imported from firefox".
I see a folder Imported with the imported bookmarks.@tbeseda If you do not have folder Imported seems to be a MacOS-only issue on your Vivaldi 6.8.3381.53.

This is a known issue, as mentioned by Daniel already just above here. Fixed in Snapshots:
[Importer] Cannot import from HTML Bookmarks file / Issues with multiple Firefox profiles (VB-107436)A possible cause if having Firefox installed with multiple profiles. It seems to confuse the importer. So a workaround is to temporarily remove any extra FF profiles by editing your
profiles.ini
file and then do the import.
