V 6.7 | No automatic update information in Linux?

@DoctorG Update notification still not work with having installed
unattended-upgrade
with these settings:Unattended-Upgrade::Origins-Pattern { // Codename based matching: // This will follow the migration of a release through different // archives (e.g. from testing to stable and later oldstable). // Software will be the latest available for the named release, // but the Debian release itself will not be automatically upgraded. // "origin=Debian,codename=${distro_codename}-updates"; // "origin=Debian,codename=${distro_codename}-proposed-updates"; "origin=Debian,codename=${distro_codename},label=Debian"; "origin=Debian,codename=${distro_codename},label=Debian-Security"; "origin=Debian,codename=${distro_codename}-security,label=Debian-Security"; "o=Vivaldi Technologies,a=stable"; // Archive or Suite based matching: // Note that this will silently match a different release after // migration to the specified archive (e.g. testing becomes the // new stable). "o=Debian,a=stable"; "o=Debian,a=stable-updates"; // "o=Debian,a=proposed-updates"; // "o=Debian Backports,a=${distro_codename}-backports,l=Debian Backports"; };
Anything wrong?

Unattended-Upgrade::Origins-Pattern
All ok.
Do you have this in 20auto-upgrades?
test@debora:~$ cat /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/20auto-upgrades APT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists "1"; APT::Periodic::Unattended-Upgrade "1";
Can you check when the next update kicks in?
systemctl list-timers | grep "LEFT\|apt"
Update notification still not work
You will not get a notification as the update is done in background at system start by apt.

Yes I have same settings in 20auto-upgrades.
systemctl list-timers | grep "LEFT\|apt" NEXT LEFT LAST PASSED UNIT ACTIVATES Thu 2024-05-09 15:31:46 CEST 3h 53min left Wed 2024-05-08 19:40:28 CEST 15h ago apt-daily.timer apt-daily.service Fri 2024-05-10 06:12:48 CEST 18h left Thu 2024-05-09 06:25:30 CEST 5h 13min ago apt-daily-upgrade.timer apt-daily-upgrade.service
I read that latest update was 21h hours ago, so it should have been displayed in update manager already.
Should I write a thread in Mint forum too about it? Because it happens since I'm on LMDE 6 instead of LM 21.3 (both Cinnamon). -

If you don't mind, wait until 16:00 CEST and watch if update kicked in!

Yes, would be good to ask there too. Please report back if they know more.

@DoctorG I have spoiled it with refresh option. Now the update is available.
However, it should have been displayed before. In the past it was very few hours after announcing it in this forum, not 21h. -
@Dancer18 On my .24 on Debian 12 KDE i do not see any notification in address bar for a new version.
But i remember in the past with older versions sometimes there was one. Strange. -
@DoctorG I just found out that there are new sections in the settings, regarding time to display and "Only show security updates" etc..
There were settings there that probably caused the delay or non-notification. Now I have changed the settings, here is a screenshot (in German):
In second section I had set automatic refresh after 2 days!
In the 3rd section Only show security and kernel updates! -
@Dancer18 Thanks for sharing this.
I rarely use my german Linux Mint and do not know about their update process settings.
-
Now, after the update timer started apt in background, i got a notification in Vivaldi address bar.

It isn't standard Linux Mint, it is Linux Mint Debian (LMDE) based on Debian 12.
Therefore it could be similar in your settings...
