Vivaldi 6.6 RC 2 – Vivaldi Desktop Browser snapshot 3271.44/45

@Capushon I feel that. But sadly it works that way. Usually good reports are not closed so fast (I mean as informations given, not as grammar) and asking for feedback might have them re-opened, in that case.
-
I probably shouldn't try an upgrade until anything regardin bug report (VB-104071) Vivaldi does not start to UI, processes remain, from second start from a fresh "User Data" with then-synched profiles. is mentioned in the change logs...
-
@xaxa The problem is that the devs and QAs that have investigated cannot reproduce your issue, and we were not really able to get any useful information out of the submitted crashdumps , although one dev was able to get a log from one of them that indicates an OOM situation (new ones might be useful; we recently fixed an issue that may have affected the decoding process, as well as more details about your system)
Best guesses at present is either something related to one or more extensions (so details about these, and how disabling or uninstalling them works, might help), or that it is an Out of Memory (OOM) situation, where you are using applications that combine to use all available memory, which then causes a crash when no more memory can be used (keeping an eye of the Windows Taskmanager Performance Memory panel might prove useful).

Is anyone else experiencing a frozen Vivaldi on Windows when trying to open another profile with current snapshot? My case: I already have some windows for profile 1 open, which work fine. As soon as I try open another profile (independent of the chosen profile, I use three for work), the windows of the 1st profile freeze with "Not responding" in Windows. Does anyone else encounter this issue? Thanks!
-
@patrickweiden I think, it is the known issue related to Dark Mode setting for web pages.
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/95539/combination-of-dark-website-appearance-second-user-profile-freezes-vivaldi//edit: Fix is in progress by a dev.
-
@DoctorG: Thanks for the hint. It is the same behavior on my side as mentioned in the thread...
-
@yngve Thanks for your reply. I rather connect the issue to sync'ing[^1] or multiple profile support. But I only have guesses, you have the facts and data.
Perhaps I try the update to latest release and try to give you more crashdumps and clues, if neccessary.
[^1]: Are speed dial icons sync'ed? They happen to remain broken after a Vivaldi restart/sync, even if they have manually been updated. Could that possibly break a sync'ed profile?
-
@yngve First Vivaldi Re-start after upgrading to snapshot 3271.44 looks promising: Profile picker shows up, profiles are actually launchdl!

Why don't the links work here?

@Capushon mmh...can confirm.. you push download icon on right and nothing happen, correct? have you reported?
The link seems broken, but clicking manually on href from dev tools works. -

In 6.6.3249.4 it works.
-
It is not working with v6.6.3271.45 but works with Opera and Firefox.
Right clicking and opening in a new tab works around the problem.

"Solve the problem" is to find and fix the bug in bundle.js...
-
I wasn't discussing solving but working around it for the moment.
What does bundle.js do?
-
Hi, there is still a open report:
VB-103844
[Regression] Download attachment fails to open Save As dialog
It was updated today.Cheers, mib
-
@EricJH oversimplifing a lot is the js which contains interaction code between vivaldi user interface and webpages and even most difficult things to change with custom code only (tab height, tree views, chromium icons and so on).

@Hadden89
That is reminiscent of the site fixes Opera used to have. But may be it is more extensive these days? -

No. This is the Vivaldi “engine” itself, the whole operating logic.

@Capushon Thanks.

There must be some misunderstanding here, but just in case . . . I got a response "This was already fixed on Vivaldi Stable version. Please download it here [emphasis mine]" in response to my crash report on this very Snapshot version (6.6.3271.44). The report is VB-104700 .
If this response is literally interpreted, a bug that has been fixed for the current Stable version has resurfaced in the current Snapshot version. It's more likely that there was some confusion on the developer's side. . . .
