@glenart1 I see ads on YouTube using the latest version of Firefox. Don't you have to install Privacy Badger or some other add-on to block ads?

I tried one, but declined to share my data with the add-on authors.

In Vivaldi, with the built-in blocker, all I see is an occasional dialog, which I dismiss to watch without ads.

I think whats happening is that MY firefox IS currently working as i have not used it for a long time, & no doubt after some days they will discover i am using adblockers & then the circus of control will start, but for now i'm fine , however these 2 items have got my vivaldi operating as normal after having been completely blocked from any content after 3rd warning, may well work on any browser, but i prefer vivaldi.

instal both, hey presto, For NOW at least

Now that we know that it works you can use the direct method without Tampermonkey that Vivaldi supports:

1.- On the button "Install the script" context menu and click "Save link as.…".

          a7edc314-d4a4-415b-b5d6-279ff6b0a110-image.png

2.- Save it to a safe place and don't delete it:

          9d455171-66ab-48f1-95f3-aa53efc72b64-image.png

3.- Drag and drop to the extension page with Developer mode on:

Oh i see, yes, i was at that point couple of days back, it will increase & they will then give you the 3 video warning then you'll be blocked completely
the links i sent from another post in here , when installed will have vivaldi working without issue as of today19th oct, for how long? we shall see, as
the current working solution WILL be discovered by the google control machine & will be counteracted, & so it will go on
they certainly will NOt force people to pay for avoiding ads, they shall only reduce viewers & an alternative platform WILL emerge at some point, or maybe some
Good source shall take over youtube, which will NOT be Elon(Puppet) Musk

@barbudo2005 said in Youtube trialling new ad-blocking:

For those users who are desperate with the YT issue, on Reddit's YT channel they recommended this script:

              https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/477725-youtube-iframe-adblocker

"YouTube iFrame Bypass" is an ingenious userscript that helps persistent YouTube viewers bypass the frustrating "Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube" message. It employs a clever technique of dynamically inserting an iframe player to replace the standard YouTube player. This method effectively circumvents YouTube's ad-blocker detection, allowing for an uninterrupted, ad-free viewing experience even after YouTube's standard measures have been triggered. Ideal for those who have been directly targeted by the anti-adblocker prompt and do not wish to disable their ad blockers or subscribe to YouTube Premium."

You have to install previously the extension Tampermonkey:

              https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo

I have not tested it because I do not have the problem.

Thank you for providing a link to this script! My mom's been fighting Youtube for several days, and today finally had a full-tab popup about how she had one view left and then everything else would be blocked until she disabled her adblockers. I installed the script and everything's back to normal. Definitely bookmarking it for when I inevitably get the same problem.

For the benefit of Vivaldi users, it is important to know which extension sells the data.

@barbudo2005 I don't think what Firefox add-ons do is relevant, but since it is uBlock Origin, perhaps that is the same for Vivaldi.

Maybe you could check if minitube is affected? https://flavio.tordini.org/minitube (GPL3 license) . Otherwise it could be a good clean GUI alternative to you.

@Pesala, this datas are normal for an adblocker, its logic that it need access to the website and settings and permissions to modify it, not because to sell this data, but to localize the ads to block them or the permission to storage, activity and history, to store the whitelisted sites, eg.. Vivaldi itself has way more permissions than this.
Anyway its always better to use the less extensions possible.

So i ended up getting blocked for blocking. Tried most of the workarounds mentioned, including this one I found on another site, not sure if it was mentioned on here.

                            youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false)
                            youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0)
                            youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, [])
                            youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

None worked except for the iFrame adblocker mentioned above. Only issue with this one is that you need to focus the video player if you want to use any keyboard shortcuts to change speed/quality/captions etc. Normally once the tab loads you can shift+[key] and it works, doesn't work with that running.

But I guess you can't have it all...

iFrame works fine for me, until now, with the YouTube Nonstop extension I also can watch my entire playlists without YT stop it every 20-30 min. Anyway i mostly use front-ends now, like Piped and Invidious, or watching videos in FreeTube, the last versión seems to have fixed the crash issue and works great. All of these load much faster and more fluidly, without ads and other shit. Also the Vivaldi solution in the Feed Reader works fine.

I just reinstalled Vivaldi because the AD blocker was not working on youtube anymore and I thought it was an update problem. But the malfunction has remained. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Also no problems with the Vivaldi blocker and the userscript at the moment (the Greasyfork site are filling with a lot of scripts, related to YT anti adblock treats which nobody likes). Even MS itself permits to block the YT anti adblocker with the Windows Phone UA. as a workarround.
