Hi, I guess you want suggestions for Google, Vivaldi cant add the suggestion URL by default because of license fees Google want for every download of Vivaldi.
You have to add it by yourself.
Open Settings > Search, choose Google and add:
https://www.google.com/complete/search?client=chrome&q=%s
to the Suggestion URL.Cheers, mib

Under "Search engines" currently set to bing. If I change it to google it reverts back to bing

@martik777
Hm, Bing has suggestions by default and I can change the default engine to what I want.
Do you have any search engine extension installed? -
No extensions. It's down further under "Search Engines" not the default one on top.
If I change it to one of the ones listed, leave the screen and go back it is always Bing again

@martik777
You meant this?Some user had issues if they want to change the image search engine.
I am sorry but I have no idea why this is not working for you.Cheers, mib

The address bar uses whichever engine is configured as default.
You can get suggestions IF you have activated both :-
a) Search Options / Search in address field and
b) Allow Search Suggestions - in address fieldSee also https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/16991/guide-search-suggestion-url

It's probably said every week in this forum since years because of people that don't read it and constantly ask why Google doesn't have suggest URL set by default.
It's because Google wants to be paid rolyalties from the browser makers to allow a browser to have that string added by default. Vivaldi has no intention (and financial resources to do so even if they wanted to) to pay Google.
So the users must do it themselves. It's a one time operation, once you done it, it will be kept among updates.
Note, that the engine is still set to Bing.
No, it's set to google for all the engines, you only are seeing bing on top of the list
You can reorder them as you want, with mouse , Alt-down/up or the little down/up arrow in the bottom of the list -
ok, thanks again
