audio interrupted whenever something loads
-
windows 10 22h2 // 6.1.3035.302 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
be it the audio of a video, music from streaming, something at bandcamp, whenever anything is loaded it gets interrupted, choppy (very similar like in the 90's when the hard drive was under heavy load) - click on a link, load an image, open a new tab... doesnt matter if it very light or heavy load everything interrupts the audio
how can i stop this behavior?
tested on firefox, brave, edge, palemoon, chromium, opera and torch and none of these browsers has the audio problem as vivaldi
thanks

@caspervanderzee Please check Troubleshooting issues.
Never has such broken audio streams.
What are your Settings → Tabs to play audio in tabs? -
@DoctorG
"prioritize active tab"as "play all audio" simply mutes everything
-
@caspervanderzee I tried now with 6.1.3035.302 Win 11 and "Priorize Active Tab" and all played nice for me. No cippled sound.
Could be outdated/broken audio driver, connection to audio device (f.ex. USB, WLAN, HDMI, Bluetooth), multiplexing connected audio output devices by Windows, browser extensions.
I just can only guess, not very professional, i know. -
thanks for testing, at least it shows that my problem is local, configuration, addon or similar
stil odd, but its a vivaldi problem as i tested with all those other browsers without the issue
-
@caspervanderzee Please check this:
- Update Windows drivers
Use manufycturers website, Windows update can be older. - Updated DRM codec
Open vivaldi://components
Scroll down to "Widevine Content Decryption Module"
Post version number here
Try to update Widevine with "Check for Update" button - Info about media usage when playing the audio
Open vivaldi://media-internals
Click on Copy to Clipboard
Paste here with </> button
In very rare cases Vivaldi downgrades or Security Tools can causes strange effects.
- Update Windows drivers
-
- windows drivers are updated
- Widevine Content Decryption Module also didnt find an update

@caspervanderzee Nothing strange i can see.
-
@caspervanderzee Perhaps a extension causing this.
Please open Extensions Manager (Ctrl+Shift+E)
Disable all extensions.
Restart Vivaldi.
Does audio play correct now?
I very rare cases a reinstall of Vivaldi can help if a update broke something.
Download Vivaldi installer from vivaldi.com
Uninstall Vivaldi (do not let Uninstaller delete browser profile data!)
Install Vivaldi with installer
Does audio play well with a test profile (Avatar button in addressbar → Manager People), means: no extensions installed?

@DoctorG
thanks a lot of the helpdisabling addons solve it, so i tried every extention individually to find out which was cause problems, two of them did, removed and now the audio is working as intended
ps:
one extension was to stop youtube autoplay and the other to mute all tabs in one click -
@caspervanderzee said in audio interrupted whenever something loads:
extention individually to find out which was cause problems, two of them did, removed
Which ones caused this, can you tell the names, would be good for others when they have related issue.

@DoctorG
Thanks for the suggestion about the extensions - I have not disabled all of them (yet) - only the ones that I think are 'sound-releated' - but, no luck (not using the ones
@caspervanderzee mentioned).In my case, the 'crackling' starts after having played several YouTube videos (not music). Once it crackles, it is system-wide: music/movie player, other browsers. The only way I know to remedy it, is a reboot (hibernation does not solve it).
I'm on W10 (always up to date), latest Vivaldi (portable) and my Realtek-drivers (though not the 'newest') are also up to date.
