Movies and Series Builtin Tracker
-
Hello guys!
I had this idea in mind for some time and decided to share it with you.
I think this is not so important for the Browser experience but it's more like another social aspect for the Vivaldi community to bring users more engaged.The idea is to have a dedicated button or place (maybe we can open it from the side bar or on a separate page like this forum) where we can see:
- Movies and series covers with some metadata;
- Search bar to search for a movie;
- Star button next to every cover so that we can put movies and series in our Favorite folder.
It will be great if there is also option for marking movies as watched and watching.
There should be a commenting feature like in this Forum where people from Vivaldi community can post there thoughts about a particular movie and share experience.
Everyone should be able to sign in with there account and people can see there own profile where everything is displayed as
Favorites / Watched / Watching.The benefits for doing this:
- More engagement with the community;
- Easy way to search for movies and series;
- Vivaldi could potentially earn when users search (maybe the search bar for movies and series should be some of the search engines Vivaldi has partnered, like searching from Yahoo);
- People will rather be here and easily find what they want to watch and read some comments from other users about the movie, then to go to a search engine and try to find what they're looking for;
- By doing this Vivaldi will benefit with more user attractions and new users will love to come, because of the wide range of browser-integrated services provided by Vivaldi.

@petkovski I have been using the free version of Trakt.tv for a few months now and am still happy with its performance. Have been trying to wrap up seasons of shows that I missed, but they just keep coming out. Glad I have a way to keep trak of it now

I used
tastedive.com
for awhile, but it lacked the granularity I wanted for TV show episodes and a recent UI update made it much less usable. It is still decent for recommendations and finding people with similar preferences.
Now I usetrakt.tv
and the Android app Showly synced to the Trakt data. Sticking with the free version for now; haven't hit any major roadblocks in terms of their gated premium features.
Trakt has less discoverability of new content, but it is fantastic for helping you realize you missed a new season of a show. The calendar for new episodes is great. There are also tons of apps and services that tie into Trakt's API, so you can do a lot with the data. Looks like it can be linked to Plex, but you need the premium version of Trakt to do it: https://blog.trakt.tv/plex-scrobbler-52db9b016ead -
