Start page "controlled by extension" not working

I'm on Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.2 with Vivaldi browser and unfortunately, it is hard for me to set the start page. The "controlled by extension" is on but nothing happens and is frustrating to struggle with a simple thing that doesn't work...

It might be an idea if you posted what extension you're trying to make work?
Generally, Vivaldi does not play nice with custom "new tab" extensions, as Vivaldi has its own Start Page.
They should work for new tab and new window though, but only when opened from within the browser. And on startup, the Vivaldi Start Page will still show.
You might also get weird issues with both the extension and Start Page on the same page, or a blank page on startup. IMO better to avoid using new tab extensions in Vivaldi.

@Pathduck Hello there and thx for your reply. Vivaldi with new apps issues, is that so? They should be able to fix this sort of lil problems... Anyways the new app is Subtle Tab but I've already tried with momentum, tabliss and the same outcome.

@RobSala Browsers are complex, none of them is immaculate. Vivaldi has plenty bugs, it’s just a question of whether they impact you.

Seems to work OK in Vivaldi.
At first start and when opening tabs/windows from outside the browser, i.e. from the task bar (or similar in your OS), it will open a blank page. This is what's bugged in Vivaldi. For new tabs and new windows, it works fine far as I can tell.
It might help if you specified exactly what the problem is on your end, and how it looks, maybe with a screenshot to illustrate. It's not easy to understand "nothing happens" (because you must see something) and "doesn't work" is not very helpful for troubleshooting purposes. Tell us or even better - show us - what you see.

@Pathduck Ok, you're right I wasn't that accurate in my definition... With any app of this kind, my start page doesn't change, and what I have is a blank-page, however, when a new tab is open, they do change, the app works. The issue is when you open vivaldi browser you don't get the page in question.

Yes, that's the bug. Hope they fix that soonish
New Tab and New Window should work though. Just live with the blank page on startup. Or learn to use and love the Vivaldi Start Page instead
