Ctrl + F does not do anything
-
Hi, I wonder whether anyone else has run into this phenomena. Whenever I press Ctrl + F when I want to find something on a particular page, nothing happens. I have to open the find in page from the dropdown menu.
Also, I seen to remember that it used to be a find in page bracket at the bottom toolbar. How can it be brought back? Thanks,
Zsolt

@europeontime Open the settings and type "search" in the search and see if there is a key combination in "focus search field", see screenshot. If this field is empty, then insert your key combination.

@stardepp Thank for your reply. The solution you offered is for browser search not in page search. The find in page shortcut setting is in the Keyboard section under the Page heading. The thing is that it does contain the Cltr + F shortcut. I have even tried to change it to Ctrl + Q as an available alternative combination option, but it still would not do anything. I even re-updated Vivaldi with the latest update, but with no avail. It seems I need to wait for a new update for Vivaldi to get this issue fixed.
Thanks again for your quick input.

@europeontime Does it work in Guest Window?
If yes, i guess a test profile work?Other Ctrl+CHARACTER shortcuts work?
Or may be some software which interjects keyboard on your Windows PC cause the trouble. Or a extension in Vivaldi? -
Thanks for your reply. Yes it works in the Guest Window. I have to admit, though, that I do not really know what you mean by the test profile exactly. I do not have any other profiles besides mine, anyway. The other shortcuts just seem to work fine. I have got no extensions installed for quite a while now. It might just be a windows issue, but in this case the shortcut in question would not work in the guest window and in other browsers either perhaps.
So, I do not know.
Thanks again.

@europeontime I do not know why, but looks liek settings are broken.
Open Settings → Keyboard , goto Reset Settings, reset to Default and restart. If that does not help, check Extensions Manager (Ctrl+Shift+E) and check "Keyboard Shortcuts" if a extension had hijacked the Ctrl+F.

Reset and exit properly did help. Now, I think about it, I has shut down my machine with Vivaldi running a few times. It might have interfered. Thanks for this.
