@jane-n I'm having the same issue. I have a nitrokey 3A. I tried adding it to my account. I get to enter my pin, I need to touch it. After that, nothing. I've waited a while to get the pop-up to name it, I've tried on a Linux device, on a Windows machine, on Vivaldi browser and on Firefox (both on Linux and windows). Never saw the pop-up to name my key. When going to my account, it isn't added (I don't see it listed).

@Team_Vivaldi Is this 2FA actually needed? I use a personal private computer do I really need this for this Platform? I use the 2FA on other platforms because of past security issues.

Is this 2FA actually needed?

You don't need to use it if you don't want to. But for people who have sensitive information in their Vivaldi's webmail account or for forum moderators, for example, it might be a good option to have it.

It was being requested for more than 4 years: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/33950/two-factor-authentication-scheme-for-vivaldi-net-account (you can see in that topic some of the reasons why some people felt it was needed).

2FA for the browser sync function? Does it mean that, if enabled, we would be requested to enter the 6-digit code when setting up sync at first install of Vivaldi browser on a device?

I've set up two methods as alternatives, both are working fine:

the Token2 T2F2-NFC-Slim-TypeC Vivaldi sent me last Xmas (I've tested it both on my laptop using USB and on my NFC smartphone and it works)
authentication app OKTA Verify which I was already using at work. I just scanned the QR code and it was good to go.

@Team_Vivaldi Why not creating a survey to get information if and which hardware keys or smartphone apps are used for 2FA?
So you will get a direct feedback whats is working and what is not working

Hey, am I the only HATER of 2 factor authentication? I am a senior citizen, without a smartphone, and as far as I know, I have no other way to 2 factor authentication. I have given up other good services because I have no devices. Why do all companies that have decided to use 2 factor auth assume that everyone has a smartphone?...or some other technology for 2 factor auth? Sorry Vivaldi, I really like you...but I must bid you a sad farewell.

@VicB You missunderstand, Two-Factor-Authenticatio is not required nor are users forced to use it!
Just do not activate 2FA (means do nothing in your profile) and use regular password login as before.

I do not use 2FA yet, hardware problems on my side.
