Cannot install 5.7+ on Win10 20H2

@Pathduck Yep. And they changed the window. On Vista/7 it just said "the app may not work if you don't change compat settings". [Find best settings / proceed anyway]. Sadly, it seems to be dumbed up on w10/11.

I am not sure I fully understand what happened here, except that it sounds like a compatibility setting was somehow configured for the installer.
If you are interested, I would suggest testing by downloading to a completely new empty download location, and be very careful about not setting or accepting compatibility changes.
However, generally speaking, the Compatibility Assistant/system should only be used when an application is already known to not work properly on Win10 when being run. Such applications are very unlikely to have been built in the past 5+ years.

Strange issue.
Not for usepeperienced users!
In such cases i would start in Regedit and edit application compatibility settings.
Open at key Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Compatibility Assistant\Store\ and delete entries in right pane.
I have never seen compat or stating issues after removing this and, truste me, i use very olde Adobe programs from 1999 and very new others ones on my Windows 11.

Just FYI, I just learned that Chromium upstream are investigating similar issues, including looking at fixing a similar problem with incorrect version being detected due to compatibility mode being configured somehow.
