Lost all tabs in Workspaces
-
I just lost over 350 tabs across 8 different workspaces, I haven't even closed the damn browser, it just crashed and boom... no tabs at all in any workspace.
This is actually ridiculous and waste of time. it was really a mistake to switch to vivaldi. -
I am having this issue as well. I have multiple workspaces with as little as a handful of tabs in each.
As an example, I have 4 WorkSpaces and each have max of 3 tabs. Once I close Vivaldi in Mac Studio M2 Max, I am unable to reopen the Vivaldi unless I remove the session files in the default folder.
Anyways, back to the trusty Brave!

I've been using Workspaces since they became available, have had no problems, and really like the feature.
I don't use sessions. I have about 10 workspaces. The workspaces have (had) between 3 and 25 tabs.
Last night, I ran Windows Update, updated various things Windows Update doesn't update, and rebooted the machine.
I've done this before with no issues.
Today, all my Workspaces were empty. (Zero tabs, not even the default start page.) All the tabs were gone, not "not in a workspace," but not open.
The "trash can" history is empty, except for the few pages I just looked at.
The full History has the tabs, somewhere, but digging them out is going to be...no fun.
I'm not throwing my hands up in rage, but I am disapointed.
Next time I update or reboot, I'm going to save everything as a Session first and see if that helps.MS Windows 10 Pro v10.0.19045
Vivaldi 6.2.3105.47 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Only a few extensions: Ghostery, Privacy Badger, that kind of thing. -
@malohin Bleh. Just noticed this is for Mac. I'll repost this somewhere else.
-
@mls14 When I re-open vivaldi my workspaces are not there but in the windows sidebar .. and they dont open properly .. good job Im only testing things but its time consuming redoing stuff
not sure how to progress -
@malohin it promises great things but not quite there yet I guess
my workspaces were missing this morning and redoing them each time of course is not an option .. hope this get sorted soon
good luck -
Just lost hundreds of tabs across 21 workspaces, tabs accumulated over many months. Some workspaces had many stacked tabs - I don't know how many altogether - maybe 500 or so, some frequently used per topic, some parked stuff to read later. Most were hibernated, preserved OK during previous restarts and updates.
Just unplugged second monitor to move laptop to sofa, vivaldi crashed, after re-open - nothing - all workspaces empty. Trash just contained what I'd intended to close - none of the tabs I'd kept open.
I love workspaces, but can't rely on them like this ...! -
It gets worse - I opened my desktop iMac (which hadn't been used for a couple of weeks) which also had hundreds of different tabs in 16 workspaces(different as workspaces not yet synced) - and all workspaces were empty too! So it's not specific to one computer - must be some bug in recent update.

The problem still persist, any update from Dev Team?
Do you guys even have this in your backlog ???Mine is MAC Os 13.6.1
Vivaldi 6.4.3160.34 -
Have you checked the Bin icon?
Have you checked the Snapshot folder in Profile Folder? -
I can see some files in 6.4.3160.34/Default/Sessions
What do I have to do ?
When I try to restore sessions in File/Open Saved sessions, no sessions appears
-
Close V
Find out your Profile/Default/Sessions folder
Rename itPaste the Sessions folder from Snapshot
-
In case you have custom Sessions
Backup the original folderPaste the content of the Sessions folder from Snapshot and replace if needed
-
This worked amazingly well, I recover all my tabs!
Some names were missing but thats no problem!Thank you!!!!

I just had a similar problem and panicked (100+ tabs lost!). But then I found a solution within Vivaldi itself. Not sure if it existed back when this question was posted, or if it's some new feature.
Under the Trash icon on the tabs panel you will see the log of all closed tabs. You can find "Window with 100500 tabs" there and see all of its tabs. This way you can restore them one by one. But there's a better way - use "Restore all" button at the bottom. Just click it and the window with all tabs grouped by workspaces will magically appear.
-
makes Workspaces unusable if your tabs within them randomly dissapear
-
Hi,
AFAIK I've never lost any.By the way,
I regularly BackUp the Profile, as far as I can, allways before big updates. You can recover easily that way.

I found this hint somewhere but I can't remember where: click on the bin, find the window with all your tabs, scroll down on the tabs list until you find the menu item to "restore all". I got all my 416 tabs and my 15 workspaces back.

@AGrinko saved my situation, thanks!

seems this issue persists in vivaldi. luckily only has happened to me twice and was able to find same solution here.
