Amazon.co.uk & Some other regions doesn't load
-
Hi everyone. I posted this initially on Mastodon but I thought I would bring this over to the forums and see what people say.
Vivaldi Version: 5.7.2921.65 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
on: Windows 11 22H2 (Build 22624)I cannot search for any item on
Amazon.co.uk
, .es, .it, .fr, .eg and possibly others.
When I initially go to the site, it gives me a human verification check before allowing me on the home page. When I do search for anything though, I get a 503 - Service Unavailable Error
with the following text:We're sorry An error occurred when we tried to process your request. We're working on the problem and expect to resolve it shortly. Please note that if you were trying to place an order, it will not have been processed at this time. Please try again later. We apologise for the inconvenience. * Click here to return to the Amazon.co.uk home page
Now, what does work is
Amazon.com
(US), .com.mx, .com.br, .com.be, .co.jp, .ae.
What I have tried
- Cleared Cookies, Cleared Cache, New Profile, Private Windows. No change.
- All Blocking / Ads set to 'No Blocking'
- Trying different browsers. Search on .co.uk (and others) work on Chrome, Firefox, Edge without any issues.
- Vivaldi on macOS - Search on .co.uk (and others) work.
- I have even gone ahead and re-installed Vivaldi, clearing ALL of my profiles. No extensions, no login for sync. Squeaky clean install. Still faced with the above issue.
- Added
[*.]amazon.co.uk
to 'Sites that can always use cookies' as per another thread.
Any help would be appreciated.

@crakila Error 503 is a serve-sided error which can only be solved by server administrators. Could be a temporary problem.
I can visit the site. -
@DoctorG Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be an Amazon issue.
It appears to be a Vivaldi issue and there is nothing that I can see that is disputing this.I have tested this on another device on a different network on Windows 10. Same issue.
Even Windows Sandbox (5.7.2921.65 (Stable channel) (64-bit) ) . Same issue.(Left Vivaldi, Right Edge, both on amazon UK.)
You can see that they are on the same IP address so they are connecting to the same server.
If it was a 503 error, then it should be happening on both browsers. -
@crakila
Hi, I have no issues to open/search on Amazon.co.uk from Germany.I remember reports of the same issue on Amazon.co.uk some month ago and .ca.
Where are you located, I can test this with my VPN.Cheers, mib

I have no issues either, on .com, .uk, .de, .it etc. Funnily enough, I did get alerts from Avast earlier today about some
cloudfront.com
url it didn't like on .com but it's gone now. Site still worked though.I guess that's how the modern web works - sometimes sh*t breaks, sometimes only for some users, using only some browsers, from some countries, and no-one else sees it and the web site fixes it silently, and no-one's the wiser what was going on.
My suggestion is to keep trying and make sure you do all the troubleshooting steps, there is something on your system or installs causing this. It does not happen for others.
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/One suggestion since you seem to be the technical type, is to use the Developer Tools, especially the Network tab, and see if you get any blocked requests or blocked cookies, stuff like that.
There is certainly nothing special about Vivaldi that would make it cause such issues.
