Fixes and improvements – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2914.3

I installed the version Vivaldi.5.6.2867.62, which has also been released today, the problem with the pages, and the redirect from vivaldi://extensions/ to the extensions, has disappeared.

From my experience when working with the profile, it is quite "delicate" on some occasions i have lost data (bookmarks, search engines). Now I don't trust so much in saving the profile and I do it as before. Saving sensitive data such as bookmarks on my own.

Despite the AutoUpdate commodity, the best is to

Check the Blog for new updates
Backup Profile if new
Update Manually

In case of error/bug
Check on a Clean Profile
If there happens,
Report it.

I'm noticing that Vivaldi isn't notifying anymore when downloads are completed. Anyone else have the same problem?

Hi, if one have auto update activated yes, I fear.
I have disabled it on all of my snapshot installs but it would be much better when the installer check the OS version and block the install on not supported OS versions.
I hope they implement this for the next stable Vivaldi/Chromium 110 release, iirc there are about 10% Windows 7-8.1 user using this old crap.

Then there are no way to read the change log, if the update is even forced on win7, sorry but this is on Vivaldi Team, they should not allow it.

don't throw sh*t at Win7, it's still a very solid OS and if I didn't have a very old PC in 2021, which forced me to buy a newer one with Win10, I would still running it, like many others that don't feel ANY need to install Win10.

This was not meant as offence, user can use what they want but you cant run the latest, newest software on older OS.
Maybe for some time it work but sooner or later you have to change or stay at the old software.
You are absolutely right, Vivaldi should block updates on not supported OS, as I mention, I hope they fix this for the next stable release.

Lots of extensions started to misbehave with this chromium update to 110.*
It's like they get deactivated after some time!

Mega.nz extension - clicking on a mega link when the extension is active, results in opening a error message with url:
chrome-extension://bigefpfhnfcobdlfbedofhhaibnlghod/mega/secure.html#(etcetc)
and on screen appears

Disabling the extension, I can download the file.
Closing and Restarting Vivaldi, I can enable and use the extension, click on link and download it. After some minutes the link cause the same problem.

Twitter Media Downloader extension - Similar problem, the extension adds a "IMG⇩" button on every post, allowing to download the image, after having Vivaldi active for some minutes, first the additional button doesn't do anything anymore, and after some refreshes at twitter page, the button isn't even added anymore.
I noticed that all the options in the extension options screen vanished, none are selected

and in the Vivaldi extensions page it says the service worker is inactive

like it's being deactivated after some time.

Restarting Vivaldi, it returns "normal" for a while:

Update: even uBlock Origin after a while starts letting some ads appear, while browsing a page that hadn't any when opened first.

I already regretted installing this update.
