      I updated Vivaldi to 5.6 the other day and noticed that suddenly text input fields like in Jira service desk and tooltips (e.g. in youtube) are rendered not in the dark theme I am using but in plain black on white. Not a life or death situation but still kinda annoying.

      Note that this is unrelated to the other complaints about the context menus not being rendered in the GTK theme colors in 5.6. This is working for me. But text input fields and tooltips are ignored by my theme settings. Any ideas?

      5.6.2867.58 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit)

          Hi @Zalex108

          I said in my original post that my problem was not related to the "menus always white" issue and also mentioned the thread you are referring to.

          I have set the theme in chrome://settings to GTK and my menus are all in the dark GTK theme.

          The problem I am having is with tooltips (like hovering over a video titel in youtube) or with certain text input field in websites like Jira servicedesk.

          For both tooltips and input fields my theme settings are not honored anymore (they were in 5.5).

          To illustrate, here is s screenshot of a Jira text input field:

              @Zalex108

              I just tried testing with a different profile. That did not help unfortunately.

              I already tried 1 & 2. I do not really fancy 4, also I guess that this should be covered by trying 3.

              As for extensions, I'm running the Dark Reader extension. But I guess that both tooltips and input fields are created by the browser and thus not subject to the extension but rather the browser itsself.

              FWIW, the tooltip issue can also be observed when hovering over calendar events in Vivaldis builtin calendar.

                @ferdiG

                Some steps depends on the issue.

                For the moment,
                Will need to wait for the feedback of Linux users.

                You would try changing V Theme and see or with some Switch | --force-dark-mode

                  Hi, did you leave all default, no extensions in the new profile?
                  Please add a link to a page with such a text field and your Linux distribution, DE, X11 or Wayland and so forth.
                  For example, Wayland is not supported and I cant test this.

                  Cheers, mib

                    I just tried the new profile without any extensions and one of the Vivaldi-supplied dark themes and can confirm that the tooltips are still shown in black on white.

                    I observed this behaviour both in the builtin Vivaldi calendar (when hovering over an entry) and on the youtube website (when hovering over video links)

                      *bump*

                      FWIW, I just upgraded Vivaldi on a different computer to the latest 5.6 patchlevel. Now the input fields on this computer are white as well, so something must have changed between .50 and .62 ...

                        Aaand another followup on my own posting:

                        It seems to be possible to work around this problem by setting More -> Filter for Jira only in Dark Reader and adjust contrast accordingly.

                        So to summarize, this seems to be a problem introduced between Vivaldi 5.6.2867.50-1 and 5.6.2867.62-1 in conjunction with the Dark Reader extension.
