YouTube HQ videos flickering and stuttering
-
Dear friends!
For the last month I've been experiencing an issue with running my beloved Vivaldi browser on Fedora 37. Trying to get the proper HQ video on YouTube, I played with ticking and unticking HW acceleration, Use animation, and Use native windows. No success. Firefox and Brave have no such problems (with the same videos and time codes). I watch the same videos using Vivaldi on my OpenSuse system (the same desktop, but different SSD) with no issues at all. Had anyone encountered similar problems? A piece of advice would be much appreciated. (Fedora 37, driver: nvidia v: 525.60.11, Internet speed 500Mbps). P.S.: I tried many installations, from official rep. and simple rpm install. -
@smorozov13 I’m on Fedora 37 too and have no such problems, but I’m on AMD. To enable acceleration I run with these startup flags
--force-dark-mode --enable-features=VaapiVideoEncoder,VaapiVideoDecoder --use-gl=desktop

.Thanks for the reply. I applied your solution, but apparently something goes wrong with the system (once again, it worked perfectly months ago!!!). Other browsers do the job just fine, but I'll miss Vivaldi at least for YouTube watching. Thanks again for help!

@smorozov13 That solution is for AMD I think. Anyway, videos on all websites stutter in my case too, but only after the browser has been open for a long while, maybe it’s connected to sleep, not sure, can’t reproduce it reliably. A restart fixes it. And I don’t even think it’s locked with videos, animations can stutter too then. Probably a different issue to yours.
