      Vivaldi only places .png in the Clipboard. More support for lossy image formats such as jpg/jpeg!

      Why add more image formats support to clipboard?

      • More unlikely to reach image limits on certain applications/websites when copying and pasting;
      • Easier process of sending images;
      • Faster uploading;
      • Less data usage in limited connections;
      • Probably more benefits

      Vivaldi: alt text

      Firefox: alt text

        The issue is not Vivaldi and OS clipboard but the uploader JS code on websites, they do not compress bitmap data before upload.

        You really want: Copy image as JPEG? Which compression should that have before it goes to clipboard?
        Or do you want a special file uploader?

        I do not understand what you need.

          I want the 890.89 KB .jpg image to stay as a 890.89 KB.jpg image when I copy to clipboard and CTRL+V then elsewhere be it a program or another website that allows it.

          The only way to do that that I know is by:

          1. Downloading the image;
          2. Drag and selecting(or selecting file) sending to clipboard a perfect copy of the file I want
            or
          3. Pressing CTRL+C from Windows on the file I want and sending to the website.

          It sends a perfect copy to other places and enviroments. As long as the website, or program does not touch the file with compression algorithms it should send a 890.89 KB.jpg, in the case of that image of course. And that does not happen currently.

            The image is not 800 kB large. And a compressed file is not a image.
            Calculate yourself 2048 * 2731 * 3 Bytes gives around 16 Mbytes as bitmap!

            What you want is that Vivaldi should upload a compressed image from cache by Ctrl C? Impossible to add incore.
            Which browser has such feature?

              For this reason I don't copy images. If I see an image that interests me, I download it directly or use a screenshot with ShareX to share or edit it, through vgy.me.

                Yes.
                If It's not possible with browsers, where should I look for this?

                  AFAICS…

                  Vivaldi only placed png image on clipboard whereas Mozilla's Firefox placed bmp, jpeg, tiff. So the first part of your request is to Vivaldi asking more image formats be supported when copying image, i.e. add jpeg to clipboard as well.

                  The second part is to Discord that precedent for pasted image be jpeg followed by png, i.e. prefer jpeg over png if both available on clipboard.

                    SO It's possible huh, good to know! Tried Copy image on Firefox and yes it worked as you said. Good stuff

                    JPG stays as JPG when copied to clipboard on Firefox
                    PNG stays as PNG when copied to clipboard Firefox

                    I tried the Firefox Copy image -> Paste on Discord and the images seemed to have the same filesize and no more "Your files are too powerful". This also works on websites where images can be pasted from Clipboard! Very nice.

                    That was what I looking for when I made the request!

                    So yea, sorry if what I requested in the OP wasn't clear so I'm gonna simplify.

                    • More image formats be supported when copying image to Clipboard

                    Is that possible to do on Vivaldi?

                      You should be able to edit your first post now to clarify the feature request. Then more will vote for it.

                          Hi @greasebr2, I have the exact same problem. I was getting too many "your files are too powerful" errors lately, and I haven't changed anything. So I thought Vivaldi changed something on its side.

                          Did you manage to fix the problem? Saving and then moving the image to Discord is getting tiresome, instead of just copying.

                            Hi sorry for the late reply.

                            The fix is using Firefox
