Is Vivaldi compatible with Google password manager?
-
I manage my passwords on a Chromebook in Chrome. Obviously I can import them into Vivaldi for Windows from a synced installation of Chrome on my Windows PC. However, is there a smarter approach by which I can configure Vivaldi to just use Google password manager instead of its own?

@endemoniada No. The smart approach is to use a proper password manager. Pick your poison between Keepass, Bitwarden, Lastpass, etc.

@endemoniada I think that would go against Vivaldi's principles of privacy:
- Vivaldi (the company) has no access to your passwords, nor do they want to. They are encrypted in your computer with a key/password you define, and stored encrypted on the server. Without the descryption password you defined, there's no (easy) way to decrypt it anywhere other than your computer.
- Google has access to your passwords on their servers (just take, for example, the warnings Google gives that your password is already being used somewhere else).
Also, I don't think Chrome provides an API for other programs to retrieve / store passwords - that would make it even less secure than what it already is.
