Finally Friday – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2867.22
-
@daniel Another old-timer has joined, welcome (back).
-
@ilprof Works for me, but with the annoyance of seeing a white flash when launching the browser. Do you have GTK enabled in
chrome://settings/?search=gtk
? -
@npro thanks. I can confirm it works with gtk theme.
Originally it was set as QT.
I can confirm the white flash too -
@Popanz
Thank you - I have switched to GTK and now they're dark. -
@paul1149
Thank you for clarifying - I do read the blog each snapshot, but wasn't quite sure. -
@npro
Thanks for this! - it fixed my context menus right up! Now they're dark again, although I still see the white flash on start as others have mentioned. -
@pesala: Do you mean to say Vivaldi's business model wafts in and out of our universe?
-
Still having issues with address field search suggestions popping up and overrunning saved bookmarks. Just reported as VB-93373, hope that helps.
By the way, should I try to remember in which version a certain bug appeared first? The bug report page automatically captures my current version, but this bug popped up maybe two snapshots ago.
-
@killchain Yeah, search got even worse in this one, now it seems to select random result.
leads to...What the?
Reported as: (VB-93377) Apparently random search from suggestions -
My guess is the 5.5 branch as the current stable gives much worse suggestions than 5.4. I wish they would just revert the changes because they aren't working at all for me
Sometimes when I type an address and end it with
.ca
., I hit enter to go to the page but instead get taken to search results forcapital one
-
Oh man this is getting ridiculous

[Settings] Add a “Use Monochrome Icons” option (VB-93327)
Isn't it beautiful?
-

Ah, setting
chrome://settings/appearance
and press "Use GTK" works.Nice hint.
Thanks.PS: My hope that Vivaldi can detect in future a dark Desktop and will switch to Vivaldi dark theme.

There's this bug on Fedora 37 I have been getting since its release : right-click stops working randomly, right-click doesn't display its popup in pages anymore or on a tab (to pin it or whatever). Just restarting Vivaldi makes right-click popup show up (and its actions are therefore available).
I have been trying to find what's triggering it, but it seems very random, there doesn't seem to be a pattern triggering it. I don't have this problem on windows.
Also Vivaldi starts flashing a black page randomly after some time if I'm on a wayland. Fortunately Xorg isn't going anywhere soon.
And as usual, thanks for making Vivaldi a great browser, it keeps getting better and better with every release.
-
This is present in the stable as well.
Go to
chrome://settings/searchEngines
and try to deleteBing
. Instant crash -
@wetware05: Even if auto-opening of the download bar is not desired anymore by developers (I can imagine some people want to keep bookmarks opened instead), the feature is broken. Initiating download sometimes shrinks the bar, which does not make sense in any scenario. The bug is also present in 2867.22.

Switched from stable to Snapshot and it is pretty stable. Would have liked a page thats says: "whats new with Vivaldi"
-
Currently the Snapshot has not the security fix that Vivaldi 5.5 Stable got few days ago!
https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2022/12/stable-channel-update-for-desktop.htmlIf you surf with 5.6.2867.22 Snapshot, you use it on own risk to be attacked my malicious website content.
I do not recommend to use for surfing as vulnerability is already in the wild. -
@AryanDevasagayaum The changelog is in the page linked by Ruari in his first post of this thread. And it goes here:
https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/finally-friday-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-2867-22/
There is always one in every snapshot thread. -
@iAN-CooG Yep I forgot about that lol. But so far the Snapshot looks neat. Hmm wonder what they will gift us for Christmas?
