Terribly slow web page loading
-
I don't know how to quantify this other than saying I never had a browser perform so badly. It doesn't matter if you're using Windows or Android but it needs addressed.
-
@CityguyUSA If it happened to everyone, it would for sure be addressed. It never happens to me, in over 20 installed instances of Vivaldi, on eleven different devices (including phone and tablet). So without some information on your operating environment (hardware, extensions used, graphics support, etc.) there is literally no way for anyone here to imagine how it might be addressed (by you or by the developers)
-
@CityguyUSA I would start by following the troubleshooting guide to see if you can pinpoint what the problem might be related with.
Often times it could be some issue with a particular extension or some combination of settings. -
AsusG73jW Win10
Samsung Galaxy S10 Android 12Everything right now seems fine but I'll keep an I on it and maybe I'll add more details if I can. Doesn't seem related to add-ons.
-
@CityguyUSA It was happening to me too before I switched back to Firefox. It would take pages 10 to 30 seconds before they would even start loading. It happened rarely at first, then got worse over time.
It only started happening after I tried the sync function. Reinstalling didn't help me.

Hi,
I had a Speed dial which somehow was working on the computer and on Mobile, but not in a Tv Box.
When entering the Speed dial container of that entry, Vivaldi closed every time.Once find it and rewrite the URL everything went back to normal.
So,
Would be not Vivaldi itself.
Also,
There some sites which leaves many Mb of data into the device and removing them, Vivaldi Runs fine again.
On the other side,
To keep hundreds of tabs open, pushes Vivaldi to spend much more time to load, either with or without Sync enabled. -
Had a problem with YouTube first loading up all those videos on their home page the other day and again today. It took 15 seconds for it to load. 8 seconds on Brave. 6 seconds om Chrome.

Hi, it seams you have some issues with Vivaldi, a clean load of Youtube with Ctrl+F5 need not even 3 seconds on my Probook laptop (Specs in my sigature), exactly 2.22 seconds.
You check this with a guest profile or you create a test profile with all settings default and no extensions.
I have always a clean test profile, if something strange happen I test there.
It is well known for us long term Vivaldi user that extensions can slow down Vivaldi to dead or even crash tabs and so forth.
Next candidates are third party security software, they work fine with Chrome but slows down Vivaldi so badly you cant work anymore.https://help.vivaldi.com/article/guest-view/

My response would be that if extensions are causing that kind of delay something needs to be fixed. The extensions I use are not really extensions that would be involved in loading or what I would think of as large impacts to loading of sites. More like after the site has loaded but several are standalone like links or tab savers/closers/restorers, etc
The exception to that might be Youtube and MagicActions depending on the settings especially with the new home page. I'll definitely look into what you're saying but it's not my typical experience with add ons. These are addons that I've had for years and I rarely add new ones so I'm pretty comfortable with what they're doing.
Usually it's not just one site it's multiples but they're slow enough that it is a concern for me.
Are you using something specific to time loading? I would like to know what that is?
BTW that's not what the new Youtube home looks like if that's your example in the image. The new Home Page is essentially 2 rows of 4 videos across then a row of Shorts with composed of 8 videos and the it starts again with 4 more videos although if I scroll I think it's either loading the rows below what's in the browser window either when you scroll or it continues to load them. If it continues to load all those rows well that's a lot of wasted bandwidth. Below those it has a row of recently added videos then another row layed out like shorts with recommended prime time movies followed by another row of 4 uncategorized videos followed by 4 of top news and it goes on and on down a single page there doesn't appear to be an end. It wouldn't be my choice for a good design but Google often makes bad coding choices and poorly coded site and YouTube is one of the worst. They can't seem to leave it alone and just going to a different device can prevent you from creating a play list or even being able to find the comments. Often poorly thought out changes and even worse testing and implementation of those choices without warning.
So I am adding some YouTube info. This is what the page loading extension I used shows.
I would add it seemed a bit slower to me than what it's reporting but I didn't time it as I normally do thinking the extension would be more accurate. It could just be my sense. Without keeping stats both ways it's hard to be sure. So until I can randomly reload Youtue again I'll let the stats I copied be reality.

@CityguyUSA
The extensions are developed for Chrome, the most work flawless in Vivaldi some doesn´t work at all.
Lately user report cookie and VPN related extensions, for example.
Anyway, you can easily check this with a clean profile.
If this work you only have to sort out wich one in your default profile cause the issue.
No idea about the YT page, I was not logged in, just a quick test.
May you check typing in the address bar:d !i kitty cat
It opens DuckDuckGo image search, the page loads in < 1 second.
I use the Page load time extension.

So today the page loader timing extension showed 6:43 loading YouTube BUT that wasn't showing a single video anywhere on the page. In fact it hadn't even loaded the 2nd row of video frames so the counter isn't doing the most accurate job of counting.

@CityguyUSA
Hi, if you not test Vivaldi in a clean state it don´t get you anywhere. No extensions, default settings in a clean profile.
I takes two seconds to create a test profile.
Nobody mention that third party security software can slowdown Vivaldi to unusable, Avast, Eset, Kaspersky and so forth.Cheers, mib
