Allow Users to Select Icons for Command Chain Buttons
-
Users should be able to select icons for Custom Buttons. Using the »_ Command Chain icon for all of them is impractical.
-
@Pesala Vivaldi can’t provide icons for any possible button functionality. The only way would be to create a few generic icons. E.g. circle, square, triangle… We can already exchange the icons with custom CSS which is supported native and lets you pick the icon that fits the functionality best.

@luetage Using CSS is for Geeks. We need a solution for ordinary users. Something like selecting program icons from moreicons.dll, or selecting a SVG or PNG file from disk.
My Serif software has a built-in Button Editor, which allows pasting or loading a PNG file, then editing it.
This is more than I would expect for Vivaldi, but there should be a user-friendly way to select icons for Toolbars and Menus.

@Pesala If it’s not an SVG, it will look bad, because it won’t be themed. As bad as the profile icon in fact, which should be an SVG too…
-
@luetage Good and bad are subjective. I am happy with the Profile icon showing my avatar in colour, and custom buttons that stood out from the built-in standard buttons could work fine for me. I only use one theme all day, and one more in the early hours of the morning.

@Pesala Isn't this the same as Custom Icons for Command Chains?
-
@pafflick Yes. A button is an icon by any other name.
