Avast acquired the chrome extension "I don't care about cookies"
Quite frankly: I don't care about Avast, so what to do now?- Uninstall the extension from my browsers
- Are there alternatives?
- Are the default filters in Vivaldi good enough to do without such an extension?
- Uninstall the extension from my browsers

@S_Paternotte Yes, there is an alternative: https://github.com/OhMyGuus/I-Dont-Care-About-Cookies/releases
Details of this: https://www.deskmodder.de/blog/2022/09/16/i-dont-care-about-cookies-von-avast-uebernommen/#comments

@stardepp Ah, good to know it’s been forked. But forking is the easy part, it remains to be seen whether this individual can keep it up to date

@S_Paternotte Thanks for warning to other users
I read about the purchase of extension by AVAST some days ago.
-
@S_Paternotte Easy Cookie and I don’t care about cookies lists are perfectly fine, but they cannot automatically handle every cookie notice. Only an extension can do that. But for most sites you will be fine. It should also be noted that Fanboy Annoyances includes Easy Cookie list. I’m not sure whether and how Vivaldi’s adblocker handles duplicates.
-
Those who use the uBlock Origin extension can add the following url to uBlock Origin: https://www.i-dont-care-about-cookies.eu/abp/
...works reliably
-
@stardepp This works for the inbuilt adblocker too. It’s just a list and doesn’t have the additional capabilities of the extension.

What's wrong with Avast? Last time I used it was something like ten years ago ^^
Also, the detected virus alert sound is still in my nightmares
