Vivaldi Mail 1.0: A powerful email client built right into your browser.

That is all great, obviously. However, there is one thing which I did not find in this article: how to sync my mail/feeds between multiple computers? I use gmail + feedly, and the beauty of web apps is that they are PC independent. I can check my mail/feeds from my desktop, my laptop, and from my wife's Chromebook, if necessary. And I won't lose any of my data if my PC gets stolen or the disk dies. How are these things addressed in the new Vivaldi mail and feed reader?

@mib2berlin Play store is Android so that number is not relevant. Hover the download button on desktop and it will tell you the current version in the status bar of your browser. The blog will also tell you if you are running an out of date browser, or look in the blog side bar and you can see the version number of all the

@szakacsg: We have this on the roadmap

So, I decided to give the email client a go. In an hour I wasted playing with it, I have submitted 3 bug reports. I have tried the email client with my vivaldi mail account - they should really work seamlessly together, right?
Well, the only thing that mostly worked was the account setup (even then, there were problems with rich text signatures). After that, I was not able to get a single message from the server (11:34:10.599 error [Mail - ] TypeError Cannot assign to read only property '1' of string 'Flags'
), and was not even able to delete the account when I got frustrated with it ("Deleting ..." message is shown forever, even after vivaldi restart) !I understand bugs happen, but then don't announce the email client as ready for use! From my experience, bugs like that could be expected in an early alpha version. But not in a release version, after it was in beta for a long time! Please, don't waste the time of the users who don't want to be beta testers!
P.S. To those responsible for quality control - seriously not cool

@alexjak For most it just works. But your profile might have issues. Try to set up your Vivaldi mail account on a fresh profile. This will take 5 minutes at most and then you will see whether it works.

I was excited until i saw that your intro video features an american republican, that is, a representative of bigotry. How intentional was this on your part?

an american republican
Before you start: Please keep political views outside this forum, we're talking about an internet browsing software here. And not everyone is an american.

you're not a moderator, nor an employee, as far as i can tell
i asked Vivaldi the company who introduced political content in their advertisement video to comment on their act

@Mithaldu You should read the Code of Conduct.
Don’t use content likely to offend people based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or political views.

Catch-22 when Vivaldi themselves did it first. If you have an honest and sincere concern, do contact a moderator, otherwise unless you are a paid representative of Vivaldi who can provide an answer to my question, your input is appreciated and discarded.
Edit: Oh, and if you do contact a moderator, be sure to do your due diligence and report jon's post here which introduced content likely to offend people based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or political views.

@alexjak just have exactly same error

@mithaldu: Apologies, this was not intentional. It was an oversight and a mistake. It's being rectified.

love to hear it

@mithaldu: This video was made weeks ago, and those involved have said that had no idea who Dan Bongino is. This is also true for myself when I look at it now. As others have stated, we aren't all Americans.
Even when doing final edits, keep in mind that the focus at that state is often on visual appearance and it is easy to let stuff like this slip by if you do not know the figures involved.
To be 100% clear there is no intended political statement here. Our only focus is on mail today.

Appreciate the explanation.
That said, i'd also advise a bit more caution on textual content in the future, as the video very clearly had this sentence on the screen as the highlight of a feature.
"Covid was used by the left to control you."
As well as everything here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/assets/uploads/files/1654780451805-8416ee4d-a5fa-45d6-9d9f-5b2db6969da5-image.png
The only reason i originally only posted about the person was that i was wary about posting the ... worse content on the forums.

Fair but also please keep in mind it is a small team and a lot of content to work with. There will always be a potential for mistakes. Particularly in the modern world where so much has a political angle.
Yes it is good to be paranoid but also remember "Hanlon's razor"
never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
In any case, thank you for asking about this as it gives us a chance to clarify. No doubt others may have thought as you did and not asked. By asking you gave us a chance to understand the issue and set the record straight
-
@Ruarí That's why i asked.
