Hey - is there any need for this plugin button to appear? If I remove it, my plugin icons also disappear... it's ugly and out of place xD
It is indeed - and the not-very-logical way to get rid of it is:
settings -> address bar -> extension visibility:
- toggle only hidden extensions
- expand hidden extensions to drop-down menu
Notice that none of that describes an annoying toggle appearing when you don't have hidden extensions, but hey - that's how Vivaldian brains think!

@jon POST method searches with space in the search term on Startpage, DuckDuckGo do not work anymore. Space is replaced with "%20" and get garbled results. Also search suggestion using POST on these 2 search engines no longer work.

days count without updates
Thirty three days, & still no sign of land.

I like that the toolbars are editable.. it's like how a browser should be (though I've not edited anything as the default setup with Vivaldi for toolbar icons is already pretty decent)... the only thing missing in this feature now is being able to see and move individual web extension toolbar icons into other toolbar areas like the status bar at the bottom instead of them all just cluttering up the main toolbar...you can have the web extension toolbar cluttering up the status bar.. is no way to split them up into main toolbar/status bar areas.
And I also consider the sidebar to be a toolbar.. though it appears it is not available to be used as one..
Anyway it's a bit pointless right now as the only reason I'd ever want to edit toolbars is for addon toolbar icons to be repositioned and its just not possible..
It's shame this even a thing to request used to be a time when things just worked this way in browsers like with Firefox before Mozilla screwed it all up and turned there browser in a crappy chrome clone and now only supports lame web extensions and follows the idiot google/ms path of stupid ux.

You should upvote the feature requests Turn the panel bar into a full fledged toolbar and Move extension buttons around interface.

@Koolio, nice, but there are some extensions which need to be accesible because of it's function, not so usefull in the statusbar, which, at least, I don't use for nothing. The extensions which don't need an direct access you can hide.
You can show/hide also the bookmark bar with Ctrl+Shift+B -

can't help wondering if 4:3 was ever wrong
IMO it was all downhill after Mr Marconi's Wireless...
Ha ha!
Although I said that slightly tongue-in-cheek... the moment 16:9 screens started appearing on laptops I thought it wasn't an "advancement".
Tee hee hee... guess what was just announced...

(This is actually how I set up one laptop+monitor and if I had a suitable way to arrange the stands then I would do the same for the twin-monitor laptop as well.)

Don't get my hopes up just to dash them, man!

Is the option to use Google as your search engine gone with this update? I don't seem to be able to select it as a default option or in my search box anymore.
-
@jsynyc Please see this thread.
-
@Pesala Thank you very much. Restore to Default resolved it. Shame on me for not trying that first and for clogging up the thread!!

@jon Well it's a good start, I'm a web developer so I definitely know things take time! Here is what the non-developer version of my GUI toolbars in Waterfox Classic look like for clients:
https://www.fixedfirefox.com/images/fixed-firefox-10.0.pngHere is my GUI with the developer toolbar items added:
https://www.fixedfirefox.com/images/fixed-firefox-10.0-developer.pngI managed to clean up the toolbars and put the tabs bar at the bottom (of the top toolbars) below the address bar however updates kept breaking the customization. On my browser the address bar is on the left side of the bookmarks toolbar with a dedicated Go button (e.g. GO to the page now or GO without reloading while trying to resubmit a POST request).
I tried to move the New Tab button to be next to the Downloads button however I can't do that with this release. Again, check out the pictures for how my toolbars are in Waterfox Classic.
I did have to use JavaScript to move the HTML around in the browser's chrome to make things work cleanly. Here is a screenshot I posted of what I managed to do in June 2021:
https://i.ibb.co/M72gMhR/toolbars2.pngIf you folks want to truly make the GUI customizable have your people check out how I cleaned up the chrome's DOM using JavaScript in my thread here:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/63264/executing-javascript-to-fix-gui-components-incorrect-nestingI'm looking forward to the day that the browser not only gets there though stays there.

@jon Is this being investigated? It makes Startpage search nearly unusable at the moment. The problem isn't just with spaces but any "special" character like Scandinavian letters as well.

Great to see more and more synced settings. One great one I hope to see in the near future is keyboard shortcuts sync.
-
Holy crap, the bookmarks feel so much better now!
It's so much faster! It doesn't take a whole second to rename a bookmark now! Thank you so much for fixing this, Vivaldi team!

@pafflick OMZ, you wizard! Merely by now replacing all my broken POST searches' "POST Parameters"
q=%s
withq=%S
, now all saidbrokenPOST searches are no longer broken, AND not only do they now work again, they also now work again withAlways Search in New Tab
enabled. How stupid do i feel? How did i not know this important info before? Several months of Search frustration all for nothing!
Does this now also work again for you, @hlehyaric ?
