[solved] Vivaldi stable not launching xdg-open for MS Teams links
-
Teams.microsoft.com links to MS Teams meetings are supposed to allow you to redirect and open the link in the Teams application instead of the web browser. However, clicking this 'Launch it Now' link at the bottom of a MS Teams redirect link appears to do nothing in Vivaldi (5.0.2497.51 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit)) on my main machine.
The same link works fine when clicked in Chrome, Firefox, and even Vivaldi-Snapshot (5.1.2567.38 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit)) on the same machine! They all initially ask if I wish to allow the page to open the link via xdg-open, and then launch the meeting in the Teams app. I believe this vindicates any mime/xdg configuration.
I've made sure that teams.microsoft.com is set to no blocking. I went in to the site settings and allowed everything. I've disabled all installed extensions.... and Vivaldi still does nothing when I click 'Launch it Now'.
Can anyone confirm this behavior? At this point I'm thinking I should delete my .config and reinstalling all the extensions from scratch, if it's just me.
Thanks!
EDIT: Solve by deleting ~/.config/vivaldi, as I suspected I would have to do.

@3vi1 Linux, Microsoft teams, Vivaldi and active Vivaldi Forum user aren’t a common combination I’d assume. However, the circumstance it works in snapshot would indicate it’s no longer an issue. Update your install, stable is on 5.1 by now.

@luetage Hehe... Even freedom loving Linux Vivaldi users sometimes work for corporations that have standardized on Teams.
At any rate, it's no longer an issue: I bit the bullet and deleted my ~/.config/vivaldi directory. As I suspected, something in there was hosed and causing the xdg call to never happen. It works fine after setting it all back up from scratch.
Thanks for the reply!

@3vi1 Lol, I somehow felt this was coming. I wasn’t intending to imply Microsoft teams is uncommon on Linux, rather that the whole combination with Vivaldi and being an active forum user is unlikely. But since you solved it yourself it doesn’t matter obviously. Profiles do break and testing/restarting on a clean install is always a good option.
