I've been rocking Vivaldi as my go-to browser for about a year now, but I've just recently signed up and jumped into the community vibe. Before this, I wasn't exactly a ninja when it came to online privacy—let's just say my personal deets were pretty much all over the place. But now, I'm all in on Vivaldi as my main squeeze for surfing the web. It's got that sweet spot of being super privacy-conscious without being puppeteered by the big tech overlords.

I'm totally digging Vivaldi's privacy game and trust these folks big time. The vertical tab management on the desktop browser is a game-changer, and that end-to-end encrypted data sync feature? Chef's kiss! Plus, handling RSS feeds, emails, and tapping into the Mastodon universe all in one browser ticks all my boxes for the basic online stuff I do. However, the translation feature, Kinda misses the mark—like mixing up apples and oranges.

As the newbie that I am, I'm hitting a snag with the webmail scene. I'm itching for my own email address to kickstart my new digital persona, but I'm clueless about how long I gotta build up my rep before unlocking that sweet email functionality. I get it's all about keeping spam at bay, but other email providers, like Mailo, let you jump the queue with a one-off payment—boosting both the barrier and their income. Yet, I can't seem to spot this option on Vivaldi mail. Here's hoping I can get my email groove on sooner rather than later.

@arcmosh The only solution is activity as a community member. I have seen it take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks or more, depending on how active you are, and in what ways.

@arcmosh, welcome and enjoy. Respect the translation tool of Vivaldi, yes, it's still somewhat basic, but in developement. It's from Lingvanex, the same which use Firefox.
If it isn't enough for you, there are two alternatives you can use, IMHO the best you can find, both FOSS and multi-engine.

The Linguist extension

or/and

Crow Translate, a desktop app

@ingolftopf, the Linguist extension can still do what with the Vivaldi translator is still impossible. Translate a page like Mastodon's, where there are toots in 3-4 different languages. With a click on the context menu to translate, the page appears everything in Spanish, regardless of the original language.

@ingolftopf, ever since there was the Internet, when I searched for apps, I have always turned to a great and honest old slogan from a detergent advertisement in the 80th, that became very famous:
"Search, compare and if you find something better, buy it" (Busque, compare, y si encuentra algo mejor, comprelo, this is why I also use Vivaldi).

It is not a great announcement, but it is a campaign that will never be forgotten. Without a doubt one of the most mythical phrases in the history of television advertisements. One was especially curious: in it Manuel Luque (general manager of the company Camp) appeared along with part of the staff, shortly after he would be fired, we assume that because his board of directors followed the company's slogan to its ultimate consequences..
