Crash fixes before Christmas – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2526.3

Since the themes department has been reworked, how about expanding the background image to include side panel?
-
@nutcracker Isn't it already done with
Transparency
setting in Themes? -
@hlehyaric: Thanks and sorry! It's my second mistake regarding Vivaldi. I promise I'll be more observant and more careful in the future!
-
@nutcracker Don't stress over it. There are so many options in Vivaldi. I still frequently forget some setting that affects the behaviour.

REGRESSION: focus on address bar, should make a previously cut URL, reappear
try this:
load two pages into two distinct TABs
cut the URL from the address bar, of one of them and switch TAB (ALT+TAB)
switch TAB again (ALT+TAB, again)
click the empty address bar
...you'll see that the address you previously cut is not available anymore. This behaviour was repeatedly changed to reappear on focus of the address bar, but regresses, from time to time. Now, once again.Focus on the address bar, should make the address of the loaded page reappear, if previously cut.
-
@newscpq Nope, I call NotABug.
Press ESC to return the actual URL.
-
Some attention needed.

@nightmaresama Yes, a bug in internal pages. Nice find.
Please report bug to Vivaldi tracker -
[BUG] Mail DELETE icon is grayed, until you select some other message in the mailbox
Try this:
- click on a web URL link, into an e-mail you received (should open a new TAB in Vivaldi)
- look at the web page that pops-up in a new TAB
- come back to the e-mail TAB
[BUG1] ...you'll see that the trash bin icon that would erase the message is grey, that is: you can't erase the message by clicking the icon (as it is greyed and inactive, not white and clickable).
- select the message you want to erase
[BUG2] ...you'll see that the bin icon will remain greyed and inactive, instead of white and clickable
[ODD WORKAROUND]
- click on another message
- select the message you want to erase, again and... (suspense...)
...the bin icon will be white and clickable, now (!)

[BUG] Spam e-mail folders are inconsistently named (sometimes "Cestino", sometimes correctly) in the Vivaldi italian translation.
Try this:
- add a few e-mail accounts in Vivaldi mail from different providers, INCLUDING VIVALDI.NET accounts
- switch to the italian translation
- open the folders of every account
[BUG1] ...you'll see that SPAM (or Junk) e-mail folder is translated as "Cestino" (that means "trash bin")
[BUG2] ...you'll see, also, that a folder called SPAM exists in at least one of my vivaldi.net accounts (so the bug is not consistent across vivaldi accounts!) where Vivaldi shows me two different SPAM folders (!): one called SPAM and another one called "Cestino"
-
@newscpq VB-85587
-
@newscpq For me in Vivaldi Mail the IMAP Spam folder is never translated.
As i know it shows always the name the mail server software had chosen. -

Hi, and happy holidays; I am (hopefully) future Test Consultant, and I'd like to try my hand in testing Vivaldi Browser. Is this snapshot (2526.3) best for starting?
-
@sloba228
Hi and yes, snapshots are the latest public builds of Vivaldi.
I guess you need a lot of experience of using Vivaldi, bug reporting and good reputations in the forum to become an internal tester.
I am not a internal tester but I use the snapshot version with a used profile, a clean profile and the stable version for testing.Cheers, mib

Okay, I have no idea what is happening now. Vivaldi is getting worse and worse on my side.
In the last months the performance has worsened noticeably, where it's become now impossible to use without Hardware Acceleration. Before that, it's been still smooth in animations or scrolling, but nowadays it becomes slower and slower with the stuttering more increasing. So Hardware Acceleration had to be enabled to counter it.Additionally sometimes YT videos played in 1440p or higher have audio stuttering right after loading the site. Not when waiting a few seconds and playing it again, but I suppose when the site is still building in the background.
The extension "uMatrix" is also broken on some sites, where its window will be smaller with many of right columns inaccessible and/or breaks completely. If it breaks, it's somehow parted in two, where I can scroll the top left box separately from the rest. As if they're two different entities.
I'm comparing it to Chrome, where I have the same extensions and windows open. I've also disabled Hardware Acceleration there to see how different both browser's performance is and I notice no loss on Chrome.
I'm a great fan of Vivaldi. Especially the bookmark shortcuts. But if Chrome would offer the same, I'd already slowly spent my time there until Vivaldi has improved on the issues I receive.
To exclude wether it's just my current installation or profile, I've uninstalled Vivaldi, removed its folder from AppData, and reinstalled it. I've only added uMatrix and nothing else, just to see if that issue was with my profile. Unfortunately, it's with Vivaldi. Same accounts for the described performance issues above.
My Specs are: GTX 1080 Ti, R7 5800x, 16 GB RAM, 2560x1440 - WinX and drivers are up to date

@xerkrosis: If you open Windows task manager, and select the More Details then Details, do you see anything else using a lot of CPU in the system? Likewise, what about in the Vivaldi task manager?
