Performance on Mac/OSX

I've been using Vivaldi as my second browser for a year now, and it had always been a bit slower, but the levels are ridiculous now. It can easily take 2~3 seconds to open a new tab for example. I think it got to this state slowly over time, there wasn't a jump "hey, it's extra slow now".
Is there something I can do to fix this? Is this a common issue? As it is, it's really unusable and I'll have to move to something else... but I do like the browser and its features, so I'd rather not.
I have the latest version (and it's been an issue for months), running on Mojave. Extensions ublock and Great Suspender. Other browsers run fine.

you wouldn't happen to know which version of vivi where these issues became apparent would you?
i've been blindly doing the auto update, and this something i've been noticing more often than not on macos mojave as well.

@stevejock1 Try on a fresh profile. If you don’t have issues there, it might be time to reset your profile.

This kind of problem has been occurring since 2016. After the last update to 5.5.2805.44 on my MacBook Pro (Intel) I experience it, too - and it's so annoying that I unfortunately have to switch to another browser.
I have massive delays when opening a new tab (up to 5 seconds), when closing it (ca. 3 seconds) or when opening the in-page-search. Everything else seems to be working normal.
I tried disabling extensions, deleting history and switching to a fresh profile but saw no change. Vivaldi still works like a charm on my old Windows machine.
