Some downtime and service disruptions may be experienced.
Thanks in advance for your patience.

I'd like if you added the 'control + z' feature to restore last close tab

        @bulletz4:

Or ctrl+shift+T like the old Opera and Firefox.

It would be nice to have a bookmarks bar like in other browsers. Having to open the sidebar to get to the bookmarks is way too many clicks. Also, Ctrl+Enter hotkey doesn't work (adds the .com to the address bar).

First off, Vivaldi has incredible potential to become the new power browser. Keep up the good work and stick to your promises 🙂

            @gburgwardt:

Earlier in this thread, someone commented saying they don't like how tabs don't have a minimum width like firefox does. Personally, I hate how firefox scrolls, and wish that it would let my tabs be arbitrarily small (which is what O12 did)

Iger said "If you could, please, hide the pixel on top of the tabs which makes you miss the click on the tab if you get the mouse all the way up" but I disagree, that single pixel line lets you grab the window easily to drag it around while in full screen.

So both of those sound like different use cases is all, I'm not saying my way is the only way, but being able to toggle different functionality would be very nice.

I completely agree with this. I prefer it the way it was in O12, and would really be bummed out if this was permanently changed in Vivaldi.

As for my own humble requests:

            1. The ability to minimize a tab by clicking on it
            2. Open bookmarks in new tabs by wheel-clicking on them
            3. Customizable shortcut for paste and go in address field
            4. The ability to switch tabs (next/previous) while a webpage is loading

Other than these, there are a very large amount of requests in this thread that i strongly agree with. Perhaps it would be good to set up a Uservoice page to organize them all, and to get good voting and responding mechanisms going.

EDIT: Another thing; none of this bullshit where the page can decide whether i can open a link in a new tab or not! If i wheel-click (or Ctrl-click) a link, i am pretty sure i WANT it to be in a new tab!

This is something a miss a lot. Chrome doesn't have it, either firefox.
The ability to open a link/image in the same tab.

                1. i love that layout - DO NOT change it or at least give the option for using this one unchanged
                2. how about ad block (or something similar)?
                3. do you plan version for mobile devices?

                p.

For anyone who has an interest in Vivaldi on Linux, I can confirm that an installation of "pepperflash" solved the problem of moving images for me on Fedora 20.

Certainly they wouldn't work with an ordinary Flash installation from Adobe.

Link to get pepperflash for Fedora is:

                  koji.russianfedora.pro/koji/packageinfo?packageID=110

Thanks to Josh Strobl for the pointer.

If choosing "Install per User" installation, the Profile will be installed in Admin anyway.

                    Ausführbarer Pfad C:\Users\Gast\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application\vivaldi.exe
                    Profilpfad C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default

Problem(s): Using Import, not the PWs of the user (here: "Gast") will be imported, but those of the Admin.
Furthermore - with user account the program is not listed in Windows System (installed programs) and can not be removed by the user account.

Glad to go back to the real Opera after the official Opera is wanting in so many ways 🙂

I'm using Vivaldi on Linux Mint and resizing the display size doesn't seem to affect Vivaldi 😞

I see the password section in Tools > Settings being difficult to manage. Maybe the way Firefox does it would be better?

One thing all webkit-based browsers lack is a decent multi-threaded download manager. Something like Downthemall for Firefox would be nice for those of us with slow (>2 mbps) connections.

I'd love an integrated mail client that does Vivaldi Mail (ah, those halycon Opera days). Plus lets you grab messages from any POP/IMAP-enabled server.

Integrated chat (or is that raising the bar too high) that connects to Vivaldi Net plus supports XMPP.

And please stop setting Google as default search engine. Yes its what most folks use. But it still collects a lot of user data. Why not set DuckDuckGo as the default instead? The aware can always change their search provider setting.

Finally (this time), I'd like to see a browser than controlled an extension's data access instead of the other way around. There are some great add-ins available but they like to snoop. How and what I browse shouldn't be monitored unless I the user grant access.

I would like to add my voice to the request for a settings option so that opening a link in a new tab would open the new tab as a background tab, keeping the focus on the existing tab.

The Vivaldi tech preview isn't yet performant enough to become my default browser, but it's very close and I'm super excited about what will come next. Here's a brief wishlist of features:

                          Vivaldi improvements:

                          • Ctrl-shift-T to reopen last closed tab
                          • Ctrl-L to jump to address bar
                          • Visual cue that the page is reloading when I refresh it
                          • Back/forward buttons expand into list
                          • Dragging tabs to new windows and/or between windows
                          • Right-click-scroll to cycle tabs
                          • Reduced memory footprint (I see some tabs using 250MB!!)
                          • Single-process and/or process-per-site modes (ideally without a launch parameter)
                          • 64-bit application (or else it is going to run out of memory)
                          • General performance speedup
                          • Customizable colors for the tabs/tab bar/interface/etc.

                          Bugs (Windows 7 x64):

                          • Ctrl-tab hangs when current tab is loading a page
                          • Clicking "History" from Speed Dial crashes all vivaldi.net tabs and the Speed Dial tab, all of which must be manually reloaded
                          • Vivaldi menu shows up to the left of the window if it is maximized and not on the leftmost monitor

I agree, vertical tabs without previews would also be a nice choice which makes more sense.

Like the browser so far but would like to see few basic settings,

                                1. Set the default download folder, so that I don't have to specify it every time.
                                2. Warning message when I accidentally close all the tabs

Side Note: The application crashes a couple of times a day in Windows 7 and I have to "End Process Tree" to have it working again, which is really annoying.

Really like the looks and idea of this browser so far.

But as a person who constantly has a few youtube videos open in the background just waiting to be watched I'd love for an option to not have every tab load when launching the browser. This is a feature I can get through firefox but firefox does not have the tab stacking feature which I really enjoy.

I would like a more robust browsing history view like Firefox provides, with the ability to sort and view by different criteria, rather than the 'chromey' one in place now. Similar sorting options for bookmarks would be great too.

For example, I recently wanted to find something in my history from a couple months ago in the current Opera. With the Opera/Chrome view, you have to either know what to search for, or continue clicking previous history until you get to that time period. That's not possible for me with huge amounts of history because the page gets too laggy to use. Thanks!

                                      I would love following features:

                                      1. Ad-block
                                      2. Fullscreen adress bar that slides up and down and if you press CTRL + L it would come down and let you type.
                                      3. That start page can be speed dial. Rright now always goes to vivaldi.net website, I tried change to another website but didn't work maybe I'm not doing it correctly.
                                      4. When opening new window it opens as a small window instead of same as previous one.
                                      5. Can set your own default download folder.
                                      6. Change your own background and theme completely, maybe some program possibly to make your own theme instead of just having background as "new theme".

I hope these things will be added to the features, I know some things are already written.
Best of luck! Hope this will be my default browser when it's more stable, loving the look of it.

                                        • Option for another Design (GTK design?).
                                        • I missed the windows border from my Linux WM.
                                        • POP3 support; SMTP is not enough.
                                        • Trash folder in bookmarks
                                        • Bookmark import from Opera Blink-Browser…

First, I'm glad to see this project underway and especially delighted that you have the understanding from the get-go to include tab positioning. Now, for some things I'd be looking for…

                                          • Main toolbars:

                                          • combine url and search fields

                                          • be able to modify main toolbar and use text along with symbol

                                          • Speed Dial:

                                          • be nice to be able to import Opera's Speed Dial file

                                          • be able to configure and size SD thumbnails

                                          • move the buttons up top off the to side or include in a menu to save space

                                          • Extensions - the two I use above all...:

                                          • To-read

                                          • Ad Block (what is your ad revenue policy?)

                                          • Panel:

                                          • move Settings off the panel for easier access (in Opera, I use the panel only for downloads that aren't handled by IDM)

                                          • be able to eliminate everything but what's desired, i.e., Downloads, and only shows when left position arrow is clicked on

                                          • Print/Print Preview (when you get around to it):

                                          • WYSIWYG

                                          • on the fly scaling

                                          • History/closed tabs:

                                          • Opera 12's closed tabs button at bottom right is invaluable

                                          Thanks!

One feature I would like is to have text expenders work inside of Vivaldi. I can't get my favorite TE's (such as phaseexpress) to work in it.
